from your location I guess this is in NY. If you have been keeping up with the city and island news you would know that wheels stealing has become prevalent. NY forums are littered with stories of people getting their wheels ripped off and waking up to their car on bricks. My advice, a bunch of wheel locks, CCTV, and a garage.

Maybe Im not understanding this, but do you know who it is? Or do you just have a suspicion its this guy whose ads youve found? If you know its him why dont you contact him about purchasing a set, stating your local so you will pick them up personally, then show up with a cop who cares. I doubt it works this way but maybe you can force him to procure receipts or something for all these wheels hes selling, and when he has none, bam thats your guy.

Or do the same without a cop, but bring a bat instead (j/k)

i believe. the back 2 are mine. the fronts are the friend of another member here. I called and tried arranging a meet with him but he was in such a rush to sell them it had to be done last night, and i coudln't get anywhere with the police last night so i just gave up on trying to bust him with the wheels. he probably sold them. the police don't care because they can't prove they are my wheels.

so yes i am under the suspicion they are mine. when i asked how many miles on them he said uhhhh like..... a thousand.... i was like 'is there any damage; hes liek 'listen man these are like fresh, they still got the little things on the tire' (the nubs on the tread on brand new tires) when i asked him if he had a Z he was really awkward about it and wouldnt give me any information. plus, the ad was up last night at seven. my wheels were less than 24 hours prior. and he was in a huge rush to sell them. a lot more of a rush than someone who just took them off their own car. also if you read above, the cell phone number he gave me is associated with a whole bunch of other random wheel for sale threads on the internet

just reading this makes me fvcking furious. i feel for you, man. this same thing happened to me in san diego back in 2001, so i know how helpless you feel.

it sucks that the cops won't help, but not surprised. as was stated by someone else, it's much easier (and more lucrative) to just hand out speeding tickets instead of going after actual criminals.

keep up the good fight. it looks like you have identified the guy, and who knows where that may lead.

This guy needs to get caught bottom line, and everything youre saying leads me to agree that youve got the right person. Like you said your wheels are likely gone and done with, I wouldnt let this fall through though.
You may or may not know this but a while back there was a group of kids doing this exact same thing, probably on an even larger scale, supposedly hitting both private owners and dealerships. They targeted the 370Z wheels, and were called the Rim Reapers. They got caught, which allowed me to sleep a bit easier at night. Knowing somebody is back at it has got me royally pissed off and uneasy. Keep trying man, theres got to be a cop out there that will see to it this douchebag gets whats coming to him.

So, interesting to note - one of my friends back in Omaha takes some super glue and somehow puts his fingerprint in an area that'd be protected/not obvious, so if they were ever stolen, he could prove they were his.

Sure enough, his Avalanche's wheels were stolen, and when they were found (it was an extremely unique set), he showed the cops his finger prints. Case closed.

excellent idea! Where would be a good place on wheels? Inside the wheel under the tire?

Uhmmm, who knows - I think he actually put them on the inside of the plastic center caps, all 4 of course. Maybe even consider laying a little paint of a special color on the inside.

Well my volks have serial numbers on them - and I have a photo with my name and the date with the wheels on my car. So if they were stolen - it should be pretty easy to track down. Also they have very unique curb rash which I think is a blessing in disguise - no smart thief is going to steal your one rashed left front and back right lol...

Negatory. The IP address you see is merely a virtual address that can potentially change. Furthermore, you'd have to somehow access the customer database of the ISP that owns the addy to get access to "Who owned that IP address at that time"?

To make it worse, they can easily be spoofed :-p lol

Man, I hate thieves, I hope they busted or better yet, caught and beaten to an inch of their lives and then thrown in the slammer. Stupid people everywhere who are to lazy to get their stuff.
