Default To Sport or not to Sport, that is the question.

Hey guys, new to the forum . Went to the dealer today and they didnt have anything to test drive but they located a 6 speed with mats, spash guards and a sport package. The question is, is the sport package worth it??

My cost on a sport package over a base is $2628. On a lease that ends up being $69 a month more on this particular car ($368 vs $437). Of course the sport package includes RAYs 19's, synchro match, LSD, bridgestone potenzas, rear spoiler, sport brakes, aero chin, and euro shocks.

Here's the thing...euro shocks are going to be nothing like KYB's or Koni adjustables right?? The sport brakes are they really better if I just upgrade pads and rotors? The wheels I may upgrade anyways (or sell here if people will by them), the synchro match i know how to heal/toe as i race, the LSD would be nice if it works good, the spoiler I may get it anyways or the Nismo or aftermarket, and the aero chin i could care less about.

So what do you all think that have a sport or not since i havn't test drove either?

The sport brakes and the wheels and tires are huge upgrades in performance. VLSD is better than nothing but it isn't predictable like a good LSD. SRM's best feature is showing which gear you are in since on the street I don't want rev match and on the track I do it myself. I don't thing there is any difference in springs on shocks on the sport. The spoiler and chin are better than plain. For $2628 it is worth it IMO.

I vote for sport too. If you were to buy all that stuff in the cheapest aftermarket parts on the market, you'd pay two or three times that much for it. You can get $1200 to $1500 for a nice set of sport wheels alone.

The sport brakes are they really better if I just upgrade pads and rotors? Sport brakes look better. Plus resale value is greater than base brakes. Nobody's going to want base calipers. Just too ugly.

The wheels I may upgrade anyways (or sell here if people will by them) Again, resale value. Sports > Base

the synchro match i know how to heal/toe as i race Yes, but the 370Z was the first car with such a feature, so IMO you should get a Z with it. If you don't like it, you can always turn it off

the LSD would be nice if it works good No idea.

the spoiler I may get it anyways or the Nismo or aftermarket Again, resale value

and the aero chin i could care less about. Resale value
Based on what you've said, it seems like you're better off not getting the sport package, HOWEVER, like I've said many times, resale value. You can easily recoup most of the $2628 or whatever simply by selling the stuff back out in the market. This is not a jab to you in any way, but I'll never understand why people won't/don't want to get the sport package with the Z.

Even if you've got a base model, you can still tag it as a "sport package" when you decide to sell your z.

just like the most Nissan dealerships do().

Having said that, I would still go with the sports package. The cheapest BBK out there(which is Nissan sport brake) will cost you 2K already.

Sport. Its well worth the cost. Especially if you plan to keep it relatively stock.

I have sport and specifically went for that and MT and Navi. I'm lovin it!
Lots of comments on the wheels, and it'll stop on a dime!
19's are beautiful if I don't say so.
Like another poster said, you get the best upgrades and they're stock. If you want to sell the car later (no one keeps a car a lifetime) then you've got the best package to sell.

Lol wow that about sums it up, thanks guys. And yeah I guess it is worth it. To buy lighter wheels (and not by much) I'd have to pay a pretty penny. Plus the tires I want are an arm and a leg too and I'm sure these will be ok for some time. Buy the time I do spend money on upgrades ill be well over the $2600. Does anyone else wish you could pick and choose a few less options?? I hate big bulk packages in the end.

Honestly, I don't. I like all of the options that the Sport Pkg. came with.

It's far cheaper to buy the sport package than to piece it together after the fact. I honestly think all zs should come with the sport package.
