Spohn... nice ride! I checked out your journal, and saw your exhaust vid. What exhaust do you have on there? sounds nice!

congrats on the install, but you should have followed what I did and used a strap wrench on the shift knob.

I too have the nismo titanium and love it!

Yes i did use the strap wrench. The thing was on tight like no other.. I thought the strap wrench wouldnt tear the leather but it did.

LunaZ 04-04-2011 03:28 PM

Got pulled over. Forgot to stick the new registration sticker on the plate when I uncovered the car.
Doh.

That's not what you stated in your previous post:

Just did the shift knob exchange. I got the titanium nismo shift knob. I tried to be very careful not to mess up anything but ended up haveing the leather on the shift knob to rip off completely and my vice grip was over a towel but it still ripped through the towel and made a big scar.

The strap wrench is a different tool. It utilizes a heavy duty plastic handle with a heavy duty (slip-proof) rubber belt. This rubber belt is what contacts directly with your stock shift knob for removal. It should not have torn your shift knob leather if used correctly. A vice grip would definitely do that, even with gobs of towels/cloth.

Oops.

If a strap wrench is what it sounds like youre describing I use it to get the oil filter off, pretty useful tool.

ooo. i meant the vice grip to hold the bottom and not the shift knob. pretty much to hold the shaft thingy majigy. sorry about that.

Have GTM test pipes and Greddy TI-C exhaust with silencers removed.

Yeah, I cringe at stormy weather when I'm at work. Trees everywhere and no where safe to park :( Good luck on keeping yours safe tomorrow.

You coming to ZDayz?

That is correct... I love that thing... can't believe I went this long without it. It's the item in blue below:

Hmm... Matt with the Viper? That's the only Matt I know in Orlando. I don't live in Orlando anymore. I live in Clearwater...but I lived in Orlando from '03-'09. I'll be going to ZDayz though May 19-22 and would love some more cars to caravan with.

Dembflyr 04-05-2011 01:24 PM

I spent even more money on my Z today.

kenchan 04-05-2011 01:44 PM

whacha get, dembflyr? :D

Whats ZDAYS ? lol sorry ima noob.

FromG2Z 04-05-2011 03:45 PM

Looks like it was the only nice day this week, so drove her today with a big grin on my face. Pulled in to our company parking lot and there was a cop sitting at our lot gunning for speeders... what the.... luckily he left me alone.

Then for lunch I took a co-worker out for a drive and smiled all over again. He's an RX-8 owner, so he was impressed with the look, balance, handling, braking, and acceleration of our car. I used to have an RX-7 TT, so those RX's are great handling too...

I'm looking forward to driving home!!!! :) In all my previous cars (toy cars and dd's), nothing has enthused me this much.

There will be plenty of pics... and cursing.... and bloody knuckles.

Im not sure what's got me more excited. The fact that I'll finally have a TT Z or the fact that I'm gonna get to install a TT kit on a Z.

Either way it's a win-win for me.

But not for my savings account. :ugh2:

Hey, I bought an oil cooler today, too! Along with a clutch line. All that's left is a HD CSC kit and some spark plugs:eek:

Did two days of driving in the Mid-A and NorthEast and didn't get spotted by any of you guys. Actually, I didn't spot any of you, either. I guess we're even.
I got to enjoy windows down driving for the first time in a long time. It was 80° even after sunset as I made my way down Solomons Island Rd on Sunday night. That was nice.
I did see a guy in a white 350Z on 95N on my way home today. He gave me the thumbs up and followed me for a while.

98intrigue 04-06-2011 09:44 PM

I picked up a box from FedEx...it barely fit in my car :)

EazyD 04-06-2011 10:12 PM

Picked up a suction camera mount for recording drives! It's called the Fat Gecko by Delkin. It was $35 and works great

kenchan 04-07-2011 07:11 AM

Looked at her this am while taking out the trash. :p

Fire 04-07-2011 07:27 AM

Passed by mine in the garage as I returned from work this am and we still have da* snow on the ground.:shakes head:

FromG2Z 04-07-2011 07:52 AM

Admired Zena parked in the garage today. Had to take the minivan today to drop off and pick up the kiddy today.... won't get to drive her till the weekend :'(

Dembflyr 04-07-2011 08:56 AM

I put $10 worth of gas in. Just enough to go from my gf house to mine. With a spirited detour of course.
I'm not gonna be able to drive her til next week.

Mt Tam I am 04-07-2011 09:14 AM

I backed mine out of the garage to work on my XKE. I've finally decided to get the Jag running again.

kenchan 04-08-2011 01:05 PM

looked at her this am. :D

just now they opened up the sprinkler system at the office for the season to remove all the calcium and crap so now i can safely bring my G and Z without having to worry about water stains from their initial test run. :p they run the sprinklers early am so no issue getting the car wet either.
