you must check the frame.....i'm sure it's damaged if the suspension needs changing

this is no joke....a bent frame will never be same ever.....so take it to a high rep shop to get it fixed as best as possible and the other person insurance should take care of it

thanks for the reply guys.

yea im alrite physically..
im just really pissed off that this happened..
my lawyer told me to go to the doctor to get some x-rays
to see if everything is ok.

the police did a report and everything but i didnt get a chance to take any pics but the guy in the bmw did. at least he seemed to be sorry.

and "lucky" for me there were no cars in front of me when the accident occurred so the front of the car is fine.. sigh

arghh

men, at least you are ok.
Hope everything get fixed right and you dont loose the attention of the 370z. What about the insurance?
As Ak said, try to verify if your Nissan dealer could work that for you (body shop) or if they can recommend you loyalty body shop instead of using Insurance "recommended" shops.
Sometimes, recommended insurance shops will do a move of the way job (quick fix, give me the money).
Hope everything got solved easy without any pain in the a....s

Exactly and don't get me started on how they use reconditioned , used or cheap aftermarket parts to fix your car!!! Try to get a Genuine dealer to fix it. If no good dealer around and there's a really good body shop in your area, have them use ONLY OEM NEW parts.

Also, what insurance company do you have?(Do not feel obligated to disclose this info if you don't want to)

HOLY CRAP!

Man I'm sorry! I bet your stomach has been in knots about this. (That's how I felt when I got into my first big accident.)

Yes, definitely do not setting for anything at all! Have the frame checked and then double checked!

It's like my friends and I always say, "You can't own a nice car in Los Angeles."

OMG. Interesting that your airbags went off even though your front end didn't hit anything.

Anyway, three things:

1. I'm glad you're okay.

2. I commend you for not pummeling the other driver's face into the pavement.

3. Even though you say you're okay physically, definitely follow your lawyer's advice and get a thorough exam. My dad got rear ended years ago, and thought he was okay. Then 8 years later, he started developing back problems which have never gone away. When he started having back problems and got an MRI, the doc said to him 'You got into a car accident a while back, didn't you? Sometimes back injuries can take over a decade to manifest themselves.' It's a frightening thought. Here's the thing -- even though it was already 8 years after the accident, the statute of limitations wouldn't have prevented him from suing, because the clock doesn't start ticking on the statute of limitations until you become aware of the injury. But his mistake was that after the accident, he signed something that basically released the other driver's insurance company from any future liability. Like they told him that if he wanted them to pay for his car repairs, he'd have to sign this release on future liability. He didn't have a lawyer, and just agreed to sign it. Don't let this guy's insurance company dupe you into signing something like that the way my dad did. If injuries show up 20 years from now, you want to still be able to go after them.

Agreed. I am most concerned about his neck(since he was rear ended). You may not feel the pain now, but 3 days or 3 weeks from now, you may start very bad neck pain (Even though I hope not). So, get yourself checked as your lawyer said.

Also, since your airbags deployed, you car has lost "substantial" value. DO NOT forget to file "diminished value" request.

Just curious, how did the active head restraints work?

Sorry to hear about your car. that really blows. Sounds like it messed up your rear body pretty badly. I work in a body shop/hot rod shop. The good thing about your car is that its brand new. You wont have to worry about any used or aftermarket parts. Dont get mad though if the original estimate is way low. Its sounding like its a pretty complicated hit. I deal with this kind of thing everyday. The hardest part is dealing with the insurance companies. Good luck, and I hope your ok.

Sheesh, give the guy a break. I'm sure there were other things going through his mind at the time than 'oh man, I need to take some pics for the sake of entertaining everyone on the forum'. He already said he didn't get a chance to take pics.

I know, you have to take that light heartedly. It's not his fault, and the other dude's insurance is going to be paying for it all. So other than being without the Z for a while, at least he isn't paying out of pocket for it.

Bad deal, man, sorry to hear I got into an accident a few weeks after owning my first 350 back in early 2003, and because the car was so new, parts were difficult to get. I was without my new Z for the whole summer after that. Hope that isn't the case for you.

I DEFINITELY feel your pain man. My Civic Si was rear ended at 30+ mph within the first month of ownership. My IS350 was backed into in a parking lot just recently too. It was a hit and run.

Anyways, glad to see you're okay. That's the first thing that should be taken care of. Your car will be fine, just make sure YOU'RE fine.

I see you're located in Los Angeles. I know a bunch of shops, but they're located in Orange County. A good shop located in LA, well, relatively close, is M1 Autobody. They do a bunch of cars in the show circuit. They're on the pricey side, but they do good work and will take care of your car in a proper manner.

Hope everything goes well for you!
