Sheesh, give the guy a break. I'm sure there were other things going through his mind at the time than 'oh man, I need to take some pics for the sake of entertaining everyone on the forum'. He already said he didn't get a chance to take pics.

I know, you have to take that light heartedly. It's not his fault, and the other dude's insurance is going to be paying for it all. So other than being without the Z for a while, at least he isn't paying out of pocket for it.

When he started having back problems and got an MRI, the doc said to him 'You got into a car accident a while back, didn't you? Sometimes back injuries can take over a decade to manifest themselves.' It's a frightening thought. Here's the thing -- even though it was already 8 years after the accident, the statute of limitations wouldn't have prevented him from suing, because the clock doesn't start ticking on the statute of limitations until you become aware of the injury. But his mistake was that after the accident, he signed something that basically released the other driver's insurance company from any future liability. Like they told him that if he wanted them to pay for his car repairs, he'd have to sign this release on future liability. He didn't have a lawyer, and just agreed to sign it. Don't let this guy's insurance company dupe you into signing something like that the way my dad did. If injuries show up 20 years from now, you want to still be able to go after them.
Agreed. I am most concerned about his neck(since he was rear ended). You may not feel the pain now, but 3 days or 3 weeks from now, you may start very bad neck pain (Even though I hope not). So, get yourself checked as your lawyer said.

Also, since your airbags deployed, you car has lost "substantial" value. DO NOT forget to file "diminished value" request.

Just curious, how did the active head restraints work?

Sorry to hear about your car. that really blows. Sounds like it messed up your rear body pretty badly. I work in a body shop/hot rod shop. The good thing about your car is that its brand new. You wont have to worry about any used or aftermarket parts. Dont get mad though if the original estimate is way low. Its sounding like its a pretty complicated hit. I deal with this kind of thing everyday. The hardest part is dealing with the insurance companies. Good luck, and I hope your ok.

Bad deal, man, sorry to hear I got into an accident a few weeks after owning my first 350 back in early 2003, and because the car was so new, parts were difficult to get. I was without my new Z for the whole summer after that. Hope that isn't the case for you.

I DEFINITELY feel your pain man. My Civic Si was rear ended at 30+ mph within the first month of ownership. My IS350 was backed into in a parking lot just recently too. It was a hit and run.

Anyways, glad to see you're okay. That's the first thing that should be taken care of. Your car will be fine, just make sure YOU'RE fine.

I see you're located in Los Angeles. I know a bunch of shops, but they're located in Orange County. A good shop located in LA, well, relatively close, is M1 Autobody. They do a bunch of cars in the show circuit. They're on the pricey side, but they do good work and will take care of your car in a proper manner.

Hope everything goes well for you!

I had just parked in a mall parking structure and was walking to the stairs when I see a woman in an SUV trying to park in space marked for compacts; she hits the car in adjacent stall destroying the rear corner and complete taillight assembly. What does she do? She pulls away, drives down to another level and parks! What she did not see is that I saw her, and raced down the stairs to watch her park on the lower level. I call the police, explain the event and show the damage to both vehicles. They take my statement (and my driver’s license information, although I asked to stay out of it). About one week later I receive a letter in the mail. It was the woman whose car had been hit. She wrote to thank me as the car was brand-new, and it was her birthday the day she was hit. She was surprised that someone had taken the time to chase down the other vehicle and file a report, because in today's world people do not care. Anyway, it made her day as the other woman was held accountable versus the hit and run it initially was.

I am following this thread as the cost of repair, and the extent of the damage will be interesting not only for us, but for the insurance industry.

If it were a car that belonged to me,and with suspension damage: I would hope it would be declared a loss, total loss! When the suspension gets ****** up, it will never be the same again.

Why do Z's get *** ended? A lot of 350's got it from behind, sitting at a stop light.

If you (in Calif.)had gone to the hospital by ambulance, $3,000.00 more in insurance, in your favor! Especially getting hit from behind!

When you get the car back, and if it's not driving the same, tell the insurance company your car isn't what is was anymore.

What is the insurance company going to do? The repairs would have been paid for.

You're the one paying for the car, you're stuck with it.
