Did you use your Viper for a daily driver (coupe or roadster)?

I've never regretted the decision, but the speed is WAY different. I made the change because I hit a certain point in my life where I was willing to sacrifice a little speed for better quality.

I love both. I went from 350Z to C6 to 370Z. All the feelings I have for loving the 370 now, I had at the time I bought the vette new in 05. I had a custom widebody supercharged 05 C6. I track my cars, but the corvette just never really did it for me on the track. I loved the car, and had it for almost a whole year after I got the Z, but I finally decided to sell it because there was no reason to have two non-daily drivers and 4 cars between just my wife and me. Both are awesome cars, but I feel the Z is a little more challenging on the track than the C6 and I just like it better right now.

If you are on corvetteforum, you may be familiar with me as the powdercoater known as 'corvette pilot'

If you have had your Z06 for a while, I don't think you will be disappointed with a switch. Change is good.

You put the 5.6 liter out of the Infiniti M56 and put it in the 370Z and you have the power, torque, and sound quality to match almost any vette.

Not as a daily driver, though I drove it more than most Viper owners. In 5 yrs I put 43,000 amazing miles on it.

I've had two Vipers in the past...a 00' RT/10 and an 06' Coupe. While I loved the looks & performance,I have a mediocre lower back and ingress/egress,combined with the harsh ride & heat from the footwells spoiled my ownership.

Also, I realize the Nismo won't be nearly as fast as my Z06(I've ran an 11.41 @126.539 bone stock) in a straight line, but I have other vehicles if I get the hankering for pure straight line acceleration. I'm looking for something I can take into the mountains and have a blast with. While the Z06 was just fine at this,it did lack in the "feel" dept. ,if that makes sense. I'm also considering the Cayman, but if the 370 Nismo gets the job done for ~$30k less, then all the better.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I didn't see a way to multi quote.

Thanks a lot for the replies.

One of the guys that came out to our weekend meets just traded his C6 Z06 for a new 40th Anniversary Z... seemed to have taken the transition quite easily.

I think you'll miss the power and torque of the Vette, but the Z should still be plenty fun.

Whether or not suspension compliance really matters is a personal thing, but the Z is typically a better daily driver than the c6.

Some additional points to note:
C6 has much better visibility. It's like being in a bubble. The 370 has bad blind spots. Probably one of the worst I've ever been in.

Obviously in terms of straight line speed, it's no contest, especially compared to the ls3. A c5 (non z06) is closer.
Both cars are relatively noisy, but the 370z is a bit quieter (until you drive over loose dirt/gravel, then it sounds like your wheel wells are being sandblasted).

If you are getting factory nav, the vette is LAME (with a capital for all 4 letters!). The nissan unit is infinitely better.

OnStar is LAME too.

The Z's seats are fantastic.
My current Z06 has the LS7,so I'll be giving up 155HP,not sure about the torque, but I'm sure it's substantial. Anyone know the weight on the Nismo? I know the Z06 is a tad less than 3200lbs....maybe the 370 can make up some ground on that front?

It should weigh about the same.

You're basically going from an 11 second car to a low 13 second car at best.

Over the last 13 years I've had 4 C5 Coupes...2 C5 Z06's...3 C6 Coupes & 2 C6 Z06's. I've been using them as daily drivers.

Other than oil changes & tires I never spent a dime on them for maintenance.
