After that is approved he will get a check from the morons insurance company.

This process and take days and even weeks to complete. I totally feel for the OP in this situation. Please post more damage pictures and of course pics when it is repaired!
While the adjuster will give a check (sometimes on the spot) - do not cash that check until the work is completed.

take it to the dealer. They'll know who the good body shops are in town. Go through the dealer for any parts.

The door panels are not cheap...neither are the front fender panels - probably a good 6-8K of damage there...at least.

Sorry I'm not going to read through all the pages of the same comments, but am I the only one who wonders why that mirror is in perfect condition?

There is stupid, there is braindead and then there is this. I mean how in the world did this woman get her car into that position? If it wasn't so sad it would be funny as hell. It looks like one of those epic fail blog pics. It's unbelievable she must have been on crack or something. No way a sober person could ever do this, it's insane.

Default My Story

The 3rd time driving my car I decided to take my son to school in it. While in line to drop him at the front entrance many of his friends came over to look at the new ride. The lady in front of me decided to back up and try to get out of line before the car in front of her. She backed right into me as I was talking to the guys about the car. Small dent i the nose and a scrape. I was fit to be tied.

Knowing a body shop guy we insisted on replacing the nose and not sanding and repainting and it looks as good as new.

Good luck getting it fixed and done right.

I must have missed something cause I don't get how she could have "parked" her car in such a manner without noticing she was touching your car? This looks like it was done on purpose rather than just plain bad parking.

I also think I would have lost my nerve... well not physically (no need for that really) but verbally for sure.

Why is it always nice cars that get damaged by fools? You don't see crappy cars getting damaged by bloody nincompoops

This might be totally over the top, but definitely something I would try and do...
But couldn't you take the damaged car, the money you get for the repairs and the money you get for the diminished value all to the dealer and say; "you can have this car as it is, all the money and I want a new 40th..."

They might be able to get a cheaper rate on the repair. And have no emotional problem with it being a perfectly repaired car, which might just make it a good deal for them...

Not sure you can, I think most ins companies write the check to the place doing the fix and not to you. plus the dealer will know you are desperate and make you pay more.

Figured as your dealer could be the one repairing it and gets the check and you would say, if you can't do this, just have the repairs done...

Not saying it's a sure thing, but it might be worth a try?

Lets hope not.....Go to the best body shop in town. This may not necessarily not necessarily be the dealer's if they even have a captive body shop. Body work is body work.....The dealer would have no advantage here unless their shop is a quality one. Not often the case with dealer affiliated body operations..

The only real advantage of a "dealer shop" would be the use of oem parts...this is not always the case but seeing how new our cars the aftrmarket sheet metals probly havnt been produced yet..whatevr the case your paint will not and cannot be perfectly matched to the rest of the car due to different paint n baking techniques..id have them try to paint the whole thing instead of color matching..goodluck.

It'll probably take you a few weeks before you forget about it completely and you start enjoying your car as if nothing happened. I was the same when some idiot drove into my car, 2 weeks after I had bought it...

C'mon.....Why pay for depreciation when you don't have to? Betcha that little move will cost you $4K +++. The damage is not that bad. Maybe a little filler and some paint work. If you can't get over that you shouldn't be dirving a new car.

Exactly......My car was 5 days and 200 miles old when someone caused $7K damage to it. It's been better than new for awhile now, I got my diminished value check (paid for my mods) and all is like it never happened. Actually, my paint is better than OEM so it was a good score!
