we all can get a bit OCD when it comes to expensive things. I just want the OP to know all will turn out ok.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 06:40 PM

I'm sure all will turn out well..one other thing for the OP to watch out for would be the insurance company..they will try to settle this as cheaply as possible...the impact area is large but not severe...they might try to just pay for a repair of the sheet metal using fillers...make sure u find a shop that will replace the panels..the bodyshop might have to step up to the adjuster for you.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 06:48 PM

Haha..one other thing for the OP..u can call ur ins com n initiate the claim..take it to any shop u want..your ins company will attemp to subrogate all expenses from the other party including rental, deductible,etc...

No, that is were his covered. His insurance company will declare the value of the repair and get the full amount. He doesn't have to deal with the other insurance company at all.

Correct..read my post above yours...however there can always be issues with coverage..the other partys ins. may not sufficiently cover the pd..ie 5k in pd...ins companies will attemp to subrogate the full amount but this does not happen all the time..I've run across claims were we could not retrieve the deductible..hopefully the OP has umpd to cover any possible lack of coverage from the other party..

Hey guys thanks for all the help. Im calling my insurance company first thing tomorrow and sending the pictures of my damaged car, the eyewitnesses account who saw the whole thing, and all of the other info they need. Since this is a 40th anniversary i will be demanding a brand new dirvers side panel, rear panel thats over the rear wheel, and a brand new bumper, as well as a new side mirror which is all scratched. THANKS TO YOU GUYS...i will also be demanding LOSE OF VALUE in resale too. I am going to call my dealership tomorrow and ask them who they use for body work. Hopefully they will have someone reputable. I will be a HUGE pain in the butt with all of this when it comes to the body work and painting. I am not getting this done the cheap way, i will be asking for references and sitting down with the body shop owner. I have had two previous cars painted and the good shops can get real close and while other shops completely have no idea. I am WORRIED since this is a 40th anniversary special paint color, so i will be putting much emphasis on this when its getting work done. Crossing my fingers for the dealership and insurance company to help me here--THANK YOU GUYS, I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP!!!

NYBladeZ 05-09-2010 08:09 PM

FIY you can't get a new rear quarter panel over the rear wheel it's one piece. The other pieces are readily exchangeable hell I got a pair of extra skirts if you want them, they're red but you can repaint them. Hopefully there are no dings or dents in the rear quarter panel because those would have to be worked out.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 08:18 PM

Nissan doesn't sell quarter panels?...hopefully they do as well as the door skins...some companies will only sell entire shells which is complete BS...it'll be extremly difficult to convince the ins co to pay for a whole shell instead of a skin.

NYBladeZ 05-09-2010 08:25 PM

I've had the opportunity to take apart my Z and look at it pretty closely. The rear quarter panel is not an individual piece. It can only be replaced by some serious cutting. Concerning the door, I guess you could only buy the skin but when I took my door apart it seems really well put together, I don't think you could get the same sort of "build quality" changing just the skin, you're probably going to need a new door, lol OP get in touch with me if you need some oem replacement parts ie. door and skirts.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 08:40 PM

Damn that's not good...hopefully the shop will be able to work it all out..

I feel bad for you bro but from the looks of it, you are in the "thick" of it in that lot. I mean by far away like the other guy said that means NO MANS LAND. I will not even park in any normal spot in a parking lot. If I can't get a spot with at least 2+ cars on each side I will not even park it. Call me OCD but the parking lot is where most of your BS damage happens. It's just downright ridiculous for someone to hit a car in a parking lot. You have a parked car and the driver has all the time in the world to stop and check the positioning of their vehicle. I would probably be in jail for beating that old lady's face in. Fvckin' unreal man. I hope it all works out for you.

UNKNOWN_370 05-09-2010 10:59 PM

Nissan paint matching is some of the worst I ever seen. Painting the whole car might have to be an option??? Possibly?

dropped1 05-09-2010 11:03 PM

Wow, that really does suck. Hard to believe she ran the entire length of the car before she realized she was just " a little too close." Looks like she's played bumper cars before, there is pre-existing damage on her rear bumper!

It looks like you were parked in a shitty spot to begin with (shopping cart floating around the front of your car) No way the entire car will need to be repainted, any good body shop/painter can blend the new panels in with the old, and just shoot new clear. No need to try and get a new one...its a 40th anniversary and all but its no Enzo. Please post pics of the damage!

k20z3 05-09-2010 11:39 PM

I just had a horrible body shop experience where my deductible was less than what I had to pay for my TRD celica, my TRD spoiler was egged, and that was fine body shop dented my hatch, broke the spoiler, ruined the window wiper and enough overspray to spray on every child in ethiopia. However, from this I'm scared to take a car to a body shop, and that was the most reparable one in town, **** butte mt shops

sorry to see this cunno's. i would call your dealer for advise on which bodyshop to use and have your insurace claims adjuster stop by at the shop.

zmyride 05-10-2010 03:23 PM

holy crap. is this for real?

i am speechless. were you hit by a blind driver?

bullitt5897 05-10-2010 04:08 PM

I am with Mod on this any good reputable shop can blend and match the paint. Most dont know this but 60% of my panels have been blended and repainted with Pearl White!!! this is a 3 stage paint which is much more difficult to blend just like the anniversary addition. Trust me if you find a good shop you will never know it was even damaged!!! I now have one shop I go to for life! Artcraft worked on my s2000, my lexus, my dad's avalanche, many of my friends cars and my 370z and everyone of them came out flawless!!! They are now one of my sponsors and do all my bodywork!

YEa i will be calling the dealership tomorrow for some auto body advice. I am still going through all the paperwork, filing a police report, waiting to hear back from my insurance and setting up an appraiser to come by tomorrow. So not much of an update, but i will be speaking directly with the auto body manager about the blending process, what his procedure will be for my vehicle color, whether or not he has ever done this on another 40th which i doubt, and also what the policy is if i do not feel it was a proper match. ANY OTHER HELPFUL QUESTIONS would be helpful

DjSquall 05-11-2010 07:56 AM

IMO, that bitch deserves to be in the morgue right now. This is a crime against all that is right and wrong. If she does this in a PARKING LOT of all places, WTF does she do on the road?!?

Omg after seeing this, I'm totally flipping out man, i feel so sorry for you and your Z. I honestly hope everything works out well for you and that rat-faced blind/deaf granny dies of a heart attack real friggin soon.

This isn't a Honda Civic., besides the OEM body panels aren't that expensive. Paint the whole car? I think not. There's no reason a quality shop can't do a perfect blended match. Can you tell mine's been painted from the doors forward including the hood? Thought not. In person the finish is better than OEM. Don't scare the guy!

Couple things to be aware of... I just had my GTO totaled by someone running a red light.

Always call the police... expect the other driver to lie.

Be careful going through your own insurance as you may lose the ability to claim diminished value. Its usually in your policy that they won't pay it. However since you have no agreement with her insurance, you have a better shot of getting them to pay it.

Diocletian 05-11-2010 10:51 AM

Wouldn't GAP cover that anyway? I'm assuming since he bought a sports car that he has GAP insurance.

Huh? GAP only covers if the car is totaled and you owe more than its worth.

jedgar 05-11-2010 11:32 AM

Just saw this on digg.com and registered to say:

Feel your pain, it really sucks. Hope you figure it all out.
