:iamwithstupid:

you're totally right, his car getting damaged is definitely the fault of our immigration policy

Wow, it's not often that this forum is graced with such stupidity. If you knew anything, you'd know that the lot was pretty packed. Secondly, if I was behind you and I needed to park I'd pull up in the spot you passed by and wonder wtf is wrong with you.

I promised i would post pics after my car was done with repairs. It was done quite a while ago, however here are some pics. Remember she was hit all on the left side. So every panel had to be replaced and the back rear rim was replaced as well. Also, they did not replace the quarter panel over the back wheel, it is nearly impossible as that piece is part of the frame of the body, i.e- its not like the bumper where its detachable. The back bumper was also replaced and painted. Its like brand new, took two weeks but its once again perfect.

wheee! 07-21-2010 02:04 PM

Nice to see it all shiny again! Now stay away from WalMart! (or any other mass parking lot!)

YamahaR6 07-21-2010 02:09 PM

Seems like the rear emblem is a bit lower than original.

Cunnos 07-21-2010 02:24 PM

Yea i noticed that too. I watched the guy put it on, as soon as he was done i thought the same thing. not that big of a deal

There should be an stencil for the emblem. Almost impossible to get it wrong.

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...-z-emblem.html

I would ask for it to be redone.

SlikNik 07-21-2010 03:15 PM

That dumb bitch should not be driving...OMG, she just squeezed her ready for a dirt nap, no brain *** into that spot.

Your car looks like it came out great, congrats on that.....

lllll210lllll 07-21-2010 03:23 PM

looks nice.

Cunnos 07-21-2010 03:25 PM

Thanks guys the car is back to its original shiny clean looking state. I have about four months to go before the New England winter gets here.

kenchan 07-21-2010 03:53 PM

looks good, congrats again on the new car and new panels. :D

v8zracer260z 07-22-2010 06:23 AM

Hey there from what I can see in the pics it looks like they did a good job. Sorry you had to go thru all that on such a new car! No enjoy it and park carefully.

rha600 07-22-2010 06:32 AM

Wow, that sucks that it got hit like that. Good to see it's back in it's original form but now it will have this on the carfax (that everyone seems to use these days). If you keep the car forever it's not a big deal but if you're someone that swaps cars every few years it's going to drop the resale value.

Jason 07-22-2010 06:51 AM

looks great, man! from the pics i cant tell its been hit before - as it should be.

Yea I was considering suing the person for diminished value but didnt follow through with it. THe car is restored back to its original state, you cant even tell it was hit. If it was something larger, engine related or something major then i would have hired a lawyer. But it was basic repair, new bumper, side panel, rim, and paint job. I intend to have this car for a long time, so that is another reason i didnt follow through.

Damn dude, my buddy actually sent me a link to this on Jalopnik the day before I picked up my NISMO... Made me cringe to see it. Glad to see your baby's all better.

EazyD 10-25-2010 11:11 PM

Saw this on Jalopnik today as well.... Yikes, what is wrong with people?

Well there are a number of people out there (especially Prius drivers ) that do not care about other peoples vehicles. The majority of people see a nice car and immediately think that the owner is some sort of a-hole or they just simply dont care. I learned a lesson the day that parking in the city or any parking lots is one of the most dangerous places. I now park far away from anyone or take up two spots if I have too.

Eric 10-26-2010 10:16 AM

Grocery stores and mall/department store parking lots are among some of the worst places to park a car, especially a nice car.

I found out that by parking far away or taking up 2 parking lots tend to attract more attention and some actually take it pretty far and vandalize your car.

whoady4shoady 11-06-2010 01:03 PM

Please explain this to me. You can obviously see her passenger side mirror was knocked backwards which takes a decent amount of force and would make a pretty loud noise. She didnt know something was wrong at that point and she still continued forward? What the hell is going on? That is way worst then most drunk drivers IMHO. She shouldnt be allowed to drive anymore.

sgthanzo 11-07-2010 06:26 AM

My gut wretched when I saw that old-lady's car brushed up against your Z. I, too, have a 40th and I get paranoid when I hit a public area where parking maybe an issue.

I'm glad you got your car back in its original form. I wonder if anyone out there makes a 'perimeter protection' sort of a device for cars. hmmm...

I always take the parking spot furthest away from the action, but I NEVER take up two spaces. That, to me, represents arrogance, and is taking up a spot that someone else could use, although hardly anyone wants to park way out there anyway. I also snug my Z over as far as possible, leaving as much door swing room between my car and the next parking space, in case someone does want to park there. To me, that's all that I can do to protect my Z.

When I see someone park their special car far away, I see them as as a person who has worked hard to get that car, and is willing to go the extra mile to help keep their car away from door dings, and is willing to walk the distance to do it, and does it in a polite and considerate way to others. I think most people feel the same way and will respect that.

As a matter of fact, I think that people actually enjoy seeing that "nice car" sitting out there, sort of on display. In many cases it gives them a chance to see that special car that they otherwise wouldn't have a chance to see.

Last week, I parked way out, as usual, and when I came out of the store and headed to my Z, I heard two guys commenting on my Z, and one of them said, "hey look, there's a Crossfire too!" Someone had parked their Crossfire right behind my Z. It looked cool to see the two of them sitting out there in the parking lot. I enjoyed seeing that too. Those guys didn't want to harm those cars, they just had a good time looking at them, and I think most people are the same way.

I have found that part of the enjoyment of owning my Z is the pleasure that others get from looking at it.

As for the vandal's, they're going to do their thing no matter where or how we park. They're sick and there's not much anyone can do to protect themselves from that kind of person. But don't dwell on them, most people are good people, just treat them with respect and consideration, and it's likely you'll receive the same back.

I like to park far away as well. Looking at the Op's pictures honestly really pisses me off how stupid people are. People just swing their doors open like no big deal.

Considering the post count, it probably took him a year to read all that and then post. =P :bowrofl:

I know it's a car, and I normally take that standpoint, but holy crap the woman shouldn't be driving
