You just don't see braking and Lateral acceleration numbers this good out of the pony in GT form. Good job, Ford.

What's funny is even the 07+ 350Z can beat the GT Mustang.

Only Stang I will ever get again is a SVT product; in this case, the GT500. It does look very nice however.

That said, no contest.... Z.

Those are great times Motor Trend got for the new mustang. The only 350Z that Motor Trend has tested that got similar times was the Nismo 350Z which ran 0-60 also in 4.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile at 13.5 at 103.9. I'm sure that some non-Nismo 07 and 08 Z's can probably equal some of these numbers but it would take a GREAT driver and some mods (bolt-ons would be sufficient). Motor Trend got 4.7 0-60 run for the 370Z and the 1/4 mile at 13.3 at 105.7. So comparing stock to stock the 370Z is faster (and handles better with it's tested 0.99 lateral acceleration) but this doesn't mean much since you can spend a couple of hundred dollars on the Mustang and make it way faster than the Z.

I agree, the new Mustang looks good, and the numbers are impressive considering the price. I'm curious what the slalom and braking numbers are.

Braking is 108 ft. A lot better than I expected to be honest.

I won't get into it again, but the NISMO is heavier, also has downforce parts on the bodykit which slow it's 1/4 times down. The 350Z's have seen 13.1s at 107 mph stock.

Stock for Stock the 350Z and the 370z are pretty much dead even in a race. It will all depend on the driver. 370Z handles better than a normal 350Z not a NISMO 350Z. But once the NISMO 370Z comes out, then it will out handle all of them.

350z and 370z can not have the same acceleration.
The only way that is possible if the 350z has 40k miles on it and the 370z is brand new. Most motors get much quicker as the mileage increases and that is the reason u see those numbers for the 350z HR motor. 370z will be a much quicker car overall. There are cars that shave over 0.6 seconds off their 1/4 mile time by the time they get 40k miles on them.

Umm like I said people are running faster times over the 370z as of this moment. The 370z weighs MORE than the 350z also due to all the safety extras they had to add.

A few of those low times were done on less than 500 miles on the HR motor.

Again, how can it be "much quicker" when all the 370z could do was match the NISMO 350Z 1/4 time and 1.5 mph faster (when the NISMO is slower in the 1/4 because of the down force the body kit produces)? That is not quicker that is the same. Put a HR 350Z vs a 370Z against each other and its going to be a dead heat.

I know where this is headed so I am ending it here.

every track, every weather condition and many other things affects the car's performance dramatically. Put two of those cars with similar miles next to each other and you will see what im talking about. People will do it soon and you will see.

Comparing 1/4 miles from one car to the other in two different times is like comparing dyno readings from one dyno to another at a different time.

Take a good sh!t for a week and that weight difference becomes 0.

It takes someone that doesn't have a "full deck of cards" too buy a car from a company that has to borrow money from it's goverment! Ford could be history in the near future!

Last I checked, z34 was lighter. The safety extra added to the already 200-300lbs lighter vehicle, yet its still lighter than the base z33.

No it's not. 3350 per actual weight of the car from C&D is what the 370 weighed. My NISMO weighs 3324 and its the heaviest other than the roadster of the 350z.

The base 350z weighs in the 3200lb range which is much less than what the 370z weighs. Been discussed in detail on my350z.

^ The thread has been getting some royal treatment from both sides of the fence. But if its true then that is seriously depressing, for now I'll have to drive this myself for a while and get a feel for it. This is going to be my solo track car, so I'll have to start looking at shaving those lbs off. Thanks for the link!
