I'm really impressed with the new 5.0. Almost too impressed...

Its not that impressive, take a 4.6 bore it out to 5.0 and add 1 valve per cylinder and variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust.

Basically 98-04 cobra engine with bigger displacement and variable valve timing. Cant wait to see Direct injection thrown at it as well.

Granted the numbers are nice.

you know what, nissan doesn't need to issue a TSB. lemme just drill a few holes in my muffler and i'll get the throaty roar and powaahhhhh i need for you mustang lovers to take notice!

Rednek, I'm fairly confident that this engine was built from the ground up. I don't think anything is shared with the outgoing 4.6 outside the fact its considered a mod motor.

+1. The Coyote is a new design.

Can I nominate this thread for “MOST STUPID THRED EVER STARTED” on the370Z.com?

The new Mustang is a fine car…it’s putting up some very good numbers and clearly, Ford has come a long, long way. I respect Mustangs.

That said, I wouldn’t own one if it were handed to me for free on a silver platter and the only option of not taking it would be to have acid poured down my throat followed by 10,000 fire ants being poured on top of my head.

More importantly, ANYBODY who buys a new car and expects that some other manufacturer one or two years down the road won’t come out with something putting out better numbers is going to face one of two outcomes in life, they will either…

Be continually disappointed after owning their new car only a short while (regardless of what brand/model new car they bought, OR

They will go broke buying the latest, greatest, hottest thing every 6-18 months.

I started this thread in response to some of the talk in the mustang threads on here and how people think Nissan needs to do something about the new mustang. Strictly to get yalls blood to boil a bit and hope to catch some of the morons from the other threads.

Personally I feel that the Z is the best Japanese car on the market, and I have been fairly impressed with the improvement they have made over the 350.

Yeah, Nissan is recalling all 370Zs and exchanging them for GT-Rs (with full warranty).
