You could probably get a little more under ideal conditions, but not much. Full bolt ons would add another 5-10 potentially. Just remember it requires exponentially more HP to produce speed in the high end, air drag is a bitch.

Do you live next to the Autobahn? If not, who cares what the top speed is. You won't even hit 165mph on a track.

hehe for some reason i had it in my head that the z could do 200mph + but couldn't due to the limiter... the difference between the 155 and 165 is so minimal, why limit at all...

It could be worse, in Japan all new cars are factory limited to 180 km/h, (111 mph).

It's all relative and what you are used to. I lived in Germany for 6 years working on the US Airbases (i'm ex Forces), and used to drive to work at 195mph, and that's only 'cos my BMW topped out there. I used to get overtaken at that speed. You'd slow down to turn off the Autobahn to 120mph. Their 'slow lane' would typically average 110/120mph, and the fast lane whatever you liked as long as you were in control of your vehicle. You'd get arrested for being rubbish at 70 far more likely by the Police who would ignore you at 200+ - they'd even pull over to get out of your way. However, the price for that fredom was a driving test that was very hard to pass, probably the hardest in the world IMHO. So, I can 'park' at 130, whereas you chaps have to suffer having an infrastructure set up to the lowest common denominator. Don't get me wrong, your system is GREAT, and I love it ever time I come over, and yours is miles better than any other I've been on particularly the UK system with it's outdated lane priority model. But it does tend to over-sensitize you chaps to a few extra MPH and have your eyes glued to your speedos instead of looking out of the window. Regards, Al. |

Maybe your engine is dirty? Try the Engine Scrub [ESCRB1] - $9.99 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items! to clean your dirty engine!
Also, your engine is probably too hot...it's a simple matter of physics that energy is lost through heat! The Radiator Insulator - $199.95 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items! should take care of that. And if all else fails, try this Flux Capacitor [FLUX62] - $175,000.00 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items! Good Luck! ![]() Last edited by fairlady_Z; 03-17-2010 at 08:18 AM. |

I've got faster wheels, tires, premium racing fuel. It's all a doddle really and quite comfortable/sedate - in comparison to a full-on sports car that would be ~2/3rds weight of the 370z and 550Bhp. I'm wondering if the US models have different suspension tuning and possibly gearing to give you folks the impression it's top speed is 165 and it's unstable? Just a thought. Most of the US cars I've had in 20 years of traveling over there are relatively squishy/comfy in comparison to European setups. I wonder if your Nissimo is more like our standard 370z? Just a idea. 140-150 in the Z (US) is perfectly fine, have not gone beyond that so cannot say but to go beyond those speeds you really need to be putting down some bigger numbers or much longer straights. Hope you have a tune for that premium racing fuel. What track(s) have you been on that you are topping out the Z?

As others have said the limit can be removed via an ecu upgrade.
With the limiter removed you are looking at around a 165-170 top speed depending on road conditions (wind, grade, etc) For the guy who asked you can hit 155 in 5th gear so he probably wasn't in 6th. --Posted from my iphone. |
