Edmunds Wraps Up 12 Months with the 370Z

Aha, it's like with the woman you love...You KNOW she has defects, since she's human, but you love her anyway, huh? Same with our Zs. Still in love with her

I love driving the Z for the engine sound and aggressive punch at high revs. EDMUNDS seems to review every type of car like they are supposed to be family sedans or something. The only time they ever have any accurate reviews is when they drive muscle cars. So obviously not only are they unskilled in driving various types of cars. They only seem to be able to get accurate times from mustang and camaro ONLY! Has corporate sponsorship tainted all reviews? Or is edmunds just that dumb?
I know muscle car v8's tend to give more steady times. No skill is needed to make them go fast. Just slam on the gas. 4 bangers n 6's need a little more trickery on the stick or paddles to really make em fly. Edmunds can't master this skill for nothing.
I remember there gen coupe V6 review they got 0-60 in 6.4sec and 14.7 1/4 while in the same month MT gave it 5.5 and CD gave it 5.7 and both hit 14.0-14.2 range. At least with the Z the ratio wasn't as drastic. But edmunds always has some kind of crazy excuse for them not having comparable times to other publications.
One thing I have come to grips with though. Is corporate sponsorship outright controls reviews.
MT, loves NISSAN & HYUNDAI. C&D loves GM &BMW. Automobile magazine doesn't respect anything that's costs over $70k
I turned to a new source for my car reviews. The only magazine that has been 100% consistant to my test drives. (Though I still read the others to, I take what they write with a grain of salt) I read popular mechanics. A good group of guys there and they are car lovers. U get some str8 news and real criticisms without the in between comliment insult games that the major mags play.
I don't dismiss issues in major mags though. If they say the Z has a brake issue. I will say more than likely. There is some kind of issue. But it doesn't mean now the car is garbage. I myself don't like to buy 1st year newly engineered models till they have been proven. Something always goes wrong. With hyundai it was too many computer programs interchanging and causing ECU problems., infiniti had the battery and bubbling issues bmw always has something wrong and it seems the Z might have a brake issue on the sport package. But I know for sure, soon enough these issues will be moot. Sh1t happens.
The Z is still one of the greatest sub 50k cars out there

Overall Edmunds was disappointing with their reviews on the 370Z. They were mostly negative with a lot of stupid complaints.

You could tell they didn't like to drive it much compared to other cars in their fleet. They didn't blog about it as much as the other cars too.

Hello...still trying to decide what car to replace my 2000 I30 with. Torn between the G37 or the Z.

Thanks for the link to the review....but man they sure came down hard on the cabin noise!

I noticed that they had the sports upgrade. Do you think the noise is from the tires that come with the Sports Package?????

What is the difference in tires (size and brand) between the regular Z and the Z with the Sports Package? And do those here with the Sports upgrade notice more noise than those without it?

Thanks

Look, I've heard it all, and to be truthful, my conclusion is the same after hearing it all, as it was when I decided to buy this beauty. I just love my 2010 370Z Roadster. Period! It is a beautiful automobile, and I can't tell you how happy I am to have one of my own.

I like to see all the mods some of you are doing to your Z, glad to see you're having so much fun with it, that's what it's supposed to be, been there done that myself. But personally, I don't want to change one thing about my Z. I got the Roadster with Touring with Nav, carpets and mud guards. I got just what I wanted, and I like it just the way it is.

I love driving the Z, I LOVE the sound - and what some call "noise," the look, the handling, the ride, the feel, and maybe most of all, just looking at, and admiring her.

I haven't driven MINE yet, but I have driven a friends 2010 Z Coupe a few times, and have taken many rides as passenger as well. Initially, I was very interested in the reviews, and for the most part, they've all been positive about the 370Z, and I was glad to hear that, but I have so much to look forward to, that I don't want to waste my time looking back, just forward, preferably with plenty of great roads in front of me. I still like watching all the video's though!

Just to address this sound thing. I have owned muscle cars, and I have owned sports cars. To me, the 370Z has combined the best of both cars into one. (maybe not to everyone, but it is to me) The hungry growl, that turns into a beastly roar when it needs to, is music to my ears. The Porsche has a nice sound, but too much of a sports car sound to suit me. The Mustang has that old throaty muscle car sound, but that's too muscle car for me. The Z has it all, in my book. So, let's not forget what a great automobile we have, no matter what someone else may say. When you have a car as great as the 370Z, who cares anyway?! And Edmunds.... have a nice day........boyz!

"Didn't get the sticker fuel milage in out tests... It apparently can vary with how it's driven". No Sh*t?
Consumer Guide also marked it down for being "tight inside" and having a "firm ride". Couldn't recommend. For who... grandma?
The thing is a true sport car that can G the panties off grandma. Hopfully she won't buy one. Firm ride... jeeez.

In all fairness, this is the only car I've owned to not even come close to the sticker estimated MPG.

City and some small amount of highway driving combined, I'm at 17.8 mpg. I think the only time I saw even close to 26 (supposed highway driving) was going 55 mph in 6th gear at less than 2k RPMs. And even then my gauge only showed 22 mpg or something.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if this thing gets 9 mpg, I'm driving it every day regardless.

can't believe they whined about fuel mileage. i don't think anyone who buys any car out there ever gets even close to the sticker fuel mileage. these numbers are obtained during government-sanctioned tests under extremely ideal conditions impossible to replicate in daily life.

Well after digesting that edmunds greenpeace review. I throw that mag aside and grab the Winding Road mag and read once again how we made it to # 1.
