Tickets!

Hello guys and gals, I was just curious to see how many of us have gotten pulled over by the police for ANY violations!
This thread is hopefully helpful for those who cannot afford a lawyer and go to court without one!
Ever since I got the z I have noticed the attention I get from the cops.
Just got a fresh one from a county cop, this has got to be my last one...
Failure to stop or yield.
Hopefully I can talk to the prosecutor for no points.
Grand total of 5.

gleonard 02-01-2010 04:36 PM

Had my Z for 6 months... no tickets, not even pulled over.

No violations yet. But, when I first picked up my Z, and I was on the drive home. A cop pulled up behind me and then pulled up even with me on the left, and then slowed. He pulled behind me again and then pulled up on my right. Gave the car a real good look and then exited the motorway to my right.

The first time I drove my new car! What a first impression of things to come (look wise).

Yeah, gotta be very careful when on the roads.
Our cars have become targets I tell you!
But I have no one to blame but myself.

antman22 02-01-2010 04:53 PM

In the Z- none so far ::knock on wood::
In my old car- 1, for running a red aka beating a yellow. got expunged via defensive driving.

feelzpwr91 02-01-2010 05:02 PM

one reckless 62 in a posted 35( i was out of town, no one on the road and it was 1:00am) got it dropped it court :)

nuTinmuch 02-01-2010 05:15 PM

I have yet to be pulled over in the Z, but I've received a lot of extra police attention that I didn't in the G5. Expecting this to worsen once I get my new exhaust, lol.

SophiaZ 02-01-2010 05:41 PM

Had the Z for a year (tomorrow) and no tickets or got pulled over. Sometimes I see them too late but I've been lucky. Cops do like to stare when I drive by tho! Whew!

Chriz 02-01-2010 05:42 PM

Got pulled over once. Cop had trouble reading my temporary license in the rain and wanted to make sure it was still validhttp://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/imag.../facepalm4.gif

TX_370 02-01-2010 06:05 PM

No tickets, pulled over 3 times since april 09

Strangler 02-01-2010 06:13 PM

About 9 years driving no tickets yet.

>135I 02-01-2010 06:14 PM

Have not even looked at me. Down here in Kentucky they look at the big jacked up trucks.

Montez 02-01-2010 06:35 PM

No tickets, occasional look from pedestrians, cops don't notice it... Tons of nice cars in the DFW area. Like 135I said the same applies down here, they like there "big ole trucks" as my my wife calls them "hick mobiles".

marcussoori 02-01-2010 06:39 PM

Had the Z for 10.5 months, only pulled over for a "warning" for no front license plate...grr.

Never got pulled over but got a violation

Don't run a red in Austin TX.

golfgirlrobin 02-01-2010 07:17 PM

No tickets, but I did have a cop follow me into a parking lot because he wanted to see it up close.

Where I live, we call those jacked up trucks "Penis mobiles" cause you know those guys are compensating for something.

PapoZalsa 02-01-2010 07:23 PM

NO tickets, knock on wood for about the past 20 yrs in the US. Had about 10 speeding tickets in 5 yrs in Germany back in the 90s.

Only one HOV violation in my truck about 3yrs ago.

But I will agree that I'm getting unwanted attention from the cops in the 370, not so much on the 350 I had.

RavenRonnie 02-01-2010 07:45 PM

Don't get me wrong, I love this car and absolutely LOVE driving it... but I feel I get a whole lot less attention then the Roush Mustang I was driving before. I used to get the cops attention all the time in that car and don't feel it now. Knock on wood, no tickets in either car but I learned to drive real careful in that car...

dalparadise 02-01-2010 07:58 PM

Two issues -- One was at an intersection where I was slowing to turn right. A cop had a guy pulled over right at the edge of the intersection. As I slowed and downshifted, the sync-rev revved and both the cop and the guy getting pulled over looked up, like "huh?" I think they thought I was trying to make a point, or something.

In the other issue, it was about 3:00am and I was close to home in a residential area. A cop pulled out from the side of the street where I guess he had been running radar (though I got no hit on my detector and was not speeding). He was blacked-out and there was very little light, so I know it wasn't just forgetfullness. He followed me for a couple of turns at residential speed -- about 30-35mph. It weirded me out a little, but he finally broke off.

Red370 02-01-2010 08:30 PM

2 Tickets since June of last year, one dismissed because of a defensive driving course, most recent was this past Saturday, yes, a Red 370Z DOES attract a hell of a lot of attention, i've never been harassed by cops as much as I have in this car in my life.

CrownR426 02-01-2010 09:24 PM

Yep... FML!
I hope you guys learn from my very stupid mistakes...

I would blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-acohol...

No one else to blame but myself.

Yeah, look at my last one.
It was today 02/01/10 @ 4:25pm
This one is going to screw me over big time.
I already have 4 points and I'm taking a defensive driving class online right now.
I should be working on it right now actually... :ughdance:

Was talking to somebody today about possibly getting a Z, he told me to make sure I can cover all the expenses after I buy it. You're tickets are what he meant haha.

Exactly...
I can't imagine the tickets I'll be getting if I twincharge my z. :ugh2:

fairladyZ34 02-01-2010 10:09 PM

i got pulled over like 2 weeks after i intially got the car in mid august during my first week of school. the road is a two lane on both sides but still a 45 and everyone does 55-60ish but the cops like to hide in the bush. he picked me out and i got failure to show insurance card which is 0points and no fine but he noted i was speeding on the ticket. i ended up paying the speeding fine of $190 and got zero points. so technically if a cop ever ask me in the future i can at least say i havent had any speeding tickets

1slow370 02-02-2010 04:10 AM

in the z one ticket it helps to be gray. 120+ in a 65 he couldn't gage my real speed fast enough before i started braking and he was almost a mile off but yeah i was hauling ***. 15 day suspension, 480 some odd dollars and 6 points. I think it was a win moment because i was greeted with "congratulations you are officially the fastest person i have ever picked up with my laser" talked my way out of being arrested, he was surprised as hell when i told him that i started accelerating a little bit before he picked me up, and that i could brake fast enough that it couldn't read my real speed before i was back down to 64.

Before the z boy thats a list. within the last couple years 2 15 overs for 12 points, and a 60 over in a 35 that i talked him down to unnecessary use of speed which is only 4 points, got a lawyer and had that reduced to defective speedometer(it wasn't) wich was 2 and 120 dollars + 400 for the lawyer. lost the license after all that for 6 months but they gave me an occupational which in wisconsin means that they don't really stop you from doing anything. You can only drive 12 hours a day to church, grocery store, work, school, daycare, hospitals, and a few other places i'm sure i'm forgetting but when pulled over it is easy to say oh officer i was headed here or there.

im sure its because of those nice rims

sig11 02-02-2010 09:40 AM

No speeding tickets in the 3 years I've had a Z. This 370 is a cop magnet in solid red though. The FI exhaust doesn't help with the attention I'm sure. :)

I did get a red light ticket in Chicago for a right on red.

One of these days I'm going to try to analyze the video to figure out how fast I was going. :) I was kind-of angry when I saw that it wasn't a real violation just a bill. It takes 3 before the city can have some sanction put on your license and 10 to boot you or something like that.

Actually some research has shown that red cars in general attract more attention from police.

I've gotten a few tickets/warning with my Z, but that's just a normal occurrence for me every so often. I never accrue enough points to lose my license or anything like that, usually I just pay em online and am done with it. I don't drive reckless, but I do drive over the limit, like 80 in a 65, cruising in the left lane. If traffic is slow, I just move with it - I don't swerve in and out or anything anymore. But since I'm speeding, every so often a cop decides to pull me over, even tho I pass the vast majority at 80 and they don't budge. It just depends on the cop *shrug*

I had $500 cash with me on Bullrun in case I had to pay tickets on the spot, but despite no radar detector/scanner and driving hella fast (120 over some highway stretches) I never got snagged over the course of 3 days. Of course, hahaha, we were always pretty far behind so we ended up passing a lot of other Bullrunners pulled over ahead of us :P

I did however get off once last year for 111 in a 55. I'm good at being calm and polite with cops now, so he cut me a break since I 1) didn't try to run and 2) didn't carry my speed (he saw me speed up to pass and honk goodbye to a few friends in front of me, then coast back to the limit). Being polite and helpful helped too no doubt. He ticketed me for "unclear plates" since I have my front plate on my dash. He could have cut up my license right in front of me since 111 is twice over the 55 national speed limit, which is grounds for immediate revocation of your license.

The best (worst?) part is I simply downshifted and floored it to pass my buddy one car ahead of me before letting completely off the gas - so in that time I went from ~60 to 111 and I honestly did not realize I had accelerated so quickly!! (I was already coasting back down to ~60 when I noticed the cop pull out behind me so I never bothered looking at how fast I was going) It wasn't long after getting the 370Z, so I didn't know better :)

billydsz 02-02-2010 02:02 PM

I'm at about 7 months, no pull overs no tickets. But I use a radar/laser detector and I keep a sharp lookout. I've almost gotten nailed a couple of times, but I was just a little quicker than the cop on the draw (downshift with foot off the gas vs. him turning on the gun). It's only a matter of time before they get me though.

Do you still have the hard copy of that ticket? Just an FYI - Failure to exhibit D.L., Reg and Insurance have a $180 or $190 fine. If it was speeding on the ticket you got some points coming your way.

Joseph B 02-02-2010 02:26 PM

No tickets while driving my Z, thankfully, I guess I've only driven it about 5 times though.

I did get a speeding ticket in my old S2000 for going 45 in the 35, I think that car was a magnet for trouble, at least for me. Got another ticket for no front plate on my G35 coupe. A bit ridiculos to pull me over and go through the trouble just for me to put a front plate on.

I imagine I will get pulled over for no front plate on my Z, no big deal, I will just pay the fine.

Matt 02-02-2010 02:55 PM

First off, no tickets or even stops so far. V1 is doing it's job perfectly!

Second, the "reports" that show red cars "get pulled over more" should be looked at a little closer.

Red cars make up a large portion of the "pool" of cars used in those reports. Red cars get pullled over proportionately to their % of total cars. In those reports, gray or silver cars actually get pulled over almost double compared to their % of total cars.

If I didn't explain it right, here's a little visualization, for example:

Total Cars:

Red - 40%
Silver/Gray - 20%
Yellow - 10%
Black - 30%

Tickets:

Traffic Stops:

Red - 35%
Silver/Gray - 35%
Yellow - 5%
Black - 25%

Obviously, numbers were made up to favor my argument, but closely reflect the "reports" I was able to find on the Internet.

vipor 02-02-2010 03:09 PM

Had my Z for just over 6-1/2 months now and I have yet to be pulled over and cited. I did get stopped once by a cop because he couldn't read my dealer plate but then he just asked how I was doing and said "nice car."
