Been pulled over 3 times. Got a warning each time. It helped that on two of those occasions, the cops who pulled me over happened to own 350Zs. So they were actually quite friendly.

Finally, starting to hear some unfortunate stories!
Doesn't make me feel too bad...
Kinda...:wtf2::wtf2:

I was driving to work one morning and some really really cool kid in a pimped out Sunfire thought it would be really cool to try and race me.

So he pulls up beside me and starts revving his crotch rocket. So I play along I rev my car a little and make the crotch rocket shrink a little...

He then (feeling smaller and a little less of a boy) takes off and well………………. I DIDN'T because I am not an idiot... (did he really think he could beat me???)

Anyway about 10 seconds after acting like a douche bag a cop walks out from behind a tree and pulls him over.

As I drive by the cop gives me the thumbs up  and was laughing his *** off, he watched the whole thing.

Love it

Is that the cop behind your z in your profile pic?
Cops are real good at hiding, imagine playing hide and go seek with them?!
:eekdance:

^^^ HAHA that really made me laugh.

Ya it is a cop car. One of my best friends is a cop so we took a picture!

About 25 years ago. Going to the drug store(the legal one). Pulled over for going to fast,60 in a 45 zone. Got wrote up for, over the speed limit. Plus, expired registration. Plus, no insurance. Plus, driving with out my license(I had left my wallet at home). Total cost was close to $400.00. The a#s reaming I got from my wife, priceless!

I once hit a curb avoiding an idiot in front of me slamming on his brakes and sliding through a turn, and realized I had left my jacket at home when I swapped my bike jacket (with wallet in it) with my regular jacket going back out. The police came, and of course I was freaking out since I realized just then I didn't have my wallet. I called my mom and had her bring it to me since I wasn't too far from home and the cop was cool about it. Generally if you bring your license/insurance to court and prove you have current papers, they'll toss the tickets and just charge you the court fee.

One time I got pulled for speeding and the cop told me my insurance had expired - I hadn't realized! But I told him my parents handle it and never gave me a new card, and that it was still current. He gave me a speeding citation and that was it. I was hoping he was going to drop the speeding ticket and let me off with the no-insurance ticket, since that's no points. Oh well, still better than getting both!

I must be lucky.

Had the Z for 13 months and no tickets or even got pulled over. One of the cops in my area challenged me a race in his Challenger R/T, he was off duty haha. I don't race but I gave it a whirl...I lost but hey..it was fun racing a cop LOL

Zsteve 03-06-2010 01:55 PM

I just got stopped last night for a quick start with a honda, he let me off with a warning. I didnt even go over the speed limit just a quick zoom to show the fart can guy he cant hang.

cajunz 03-06-2010 02:05 PM

No tickets after 10 mths. Had one cop flash his lights at me but that was it. I did let a cop friend drive the car. He pulled out onto the highway and lit her up. You couldn't have slapped the grin off his face. I do love this car.

Ever since I got the z I have noticed the attention I get from the cops.
Just got a fresh one from a county cop, this has got to be my last one...
Failure to stop or yield.
Hopefully I can talk to the prosecutor for no points.
Grand total of 5.

I've not had a ticket in at least 6 years...the last time I was pulled over it was a ticket for 30 in a 25, tagged as I was topping a hill...

My wife got pulled over for going 75 in a 65. Cop said he'd write it for 70 in a 65, and the fine matched what the cop said. We signed the ticket and sent it in....yet the DMV report says going 24+ over. 4 months more of that, and it's off the books, so it's not worth fighting at this point.

Only 1 speeding ticket (86 MPH on 405 freeway) in Orange County, CA over 20 years. Got a ticket recently with my 370Z (June/2009) for no front license plate & tinted front windows (35%) in Fremont, CA. The Damn cop gave me a ticket ($299) instead of fix-it ticket ($50). I guess the damn pig try to rip people off due to shortage of of city/state budget. The pig gave me hard time even though I told I just got the new car and the front plate was not installed when I picked it up. He said I get the ticket because I have the car tinted myself - so folks, make sure you tell the pigs that your cars came like that when you bought your cars.

Anyway, I fought it in court and the judge changed it to a fix-it Ticket ($50).
I saw a lot of people in court got tickets that they would never get during good economy - Jay walking ($160), cracked windshield, blocking your own driveway (parallel to the street - NOT the blocking the sidewalk one), etc. Definitely I see that the damn pigs these days working hard to rip people off instead of fighting crimes and helping people.

LOL , I have gotten 3 of these at the same light in my last car. Needless to say I go around the light now. I got one ticket for making a right on red because I didn't come to a complete stop before making the right turn--lame!

what gives him the right to stop you just to check your car? if he has no probable cause, he has no right to stop you. wouldn't this count as abuse of power?

haven't gotten any tickets in the z yet, but have 3 speeding tickets on my record. 2 of which were on the highway 400 northboud. if anyone drives the 400, watch out. speed limit is only 100 km/h and the highway is almost always infested with ontario provincial pigs. drive more than 15-20 km/h over and you'll get ticketed

StLRedrider 03-06-2010 05:10 PM

just received my letter from the lawyer for a speeding ticket back in november. had it nocked down to a muffler violation, $164.00 fine and $50.00 for the lawyer. this was in the truck.

After all my court visits I have become somewhat knowledgeable...
I got court on the 18th for failure to yield or stop at the sign.
Yippie!

frost 03-06-2010 05:47 PM

Getting out of a traffic ticket:
-Be nice!
-When asked "do you know how fast you were going?" respond with "I was paying more attention to the road than my speedometer, but it seems like I was going a safe and reasonable speed." Never admit that you were speeding, because he will note it and you will never get out of it in court.
-Ask the police officer if he is allowed to give you a warning, and state that will definitely be more careful.

If you end up with a ticket anyway:
-Ask to see the radar. If he produces it, look for a calibration sticker. (I wouldn't ask for this until you're sure youre getting a ticket, as it's likely to piss him off).
-Always try to fight it in court. You have a good chance of at least getting the amount reduced.

dunno about kissing a pig's arse. seems like taking a ticket is much better. anyway, does that work in a speed trap? the whole point of a speed trap is to write tickets, so it seems strange that they can let some one off with a warning.

In the State of New Jersey, you are not allowed to see the radar nor video tape. But everything else will help you out a little bit.

Funny enough, some places have laws that they have to show you the radar, while others have rules against it. My buddy here got pulled over and they refused to show it.

1. i disagree. the ONLY time i write someone a ticket, is when they lie. when they admit, and are honest, unless they are doing double the limit (ect), thats good enough for me. in court, if i said you admitted it, and you didnt, good luck convincing a judge the cop is lying (i dont ever do that, but something to consider)

2. NEVER ask for a warning. its a kick in the face. OK mam, i pulled you over just to warn you. your better off being polite, and being normal than kissing major ***, or giving attitude.

3. courts must be different there. once you fight the ticket and loose, they usually take away your right to traffic school, and fine reduction. if you plead guilty, they usually say you can do community service here.

again, this is all from what i know, in the LA area. none of this applies to CHP. i have had them pull me over for window tint (which i am not allowed to have, but know that, and if i get written for that no big deal) and literally throw my ID back at me. stupid fook doesnt realize I show up if hes getting shot at or puts out a help call. CHP also is out there to write tickets. LAPD, possibly others, is mainly there to arrest, or look for the big fish with dope/guns/warrants ect. we have no quotas, and get no reward for tickets.

<shrug> Working for the City, I know a lot of cops, this is the advice they offer. http://www.the370z.com/members/frost...046t-shrug.gif
And yes, they must be different here, the judge generally won't take away your ability to go to traffic school unless you were doing something insane.

Ya know, I bought the 8500. Had it for a couple days, was kind of lamenting how much I had paid for it. Then, I was supposed to pick up my girl from work, but I was early, so I was just driving around. Got to a spot where the road was as open as far as I could see, and no one in site. Whaled on it, very quickly the detector started going off. I didn't anything anywhere, but slowed nonetheless. A ways up, there was a bike cop wedged between two buildings. I mean, must have had about 6 feet. Paid for itself right there.
