Sorry to hear about your recent luck mate, that sucks! I've worked at quite a few dealerships in my younger millennial years (lol!) as a detailer and I've seen quite a lot of shadiness. I'm thankful that today im mechanically inclined enough to do 95% off the work on my own. Now I'm just lazy sometimes lol.
Have you tried activating S mode with the switch detached from the shift bezel? I'm curious if my solution would work for you. If it works, I'm happy to pull out the bezel and snap a few pics of my washer spacer mod.
