Brakes are a very important part to safely participating on the track. If you want to risk your life so be it, otherwise i take it your not tracking the car. So you bought a Z to just daily drive, congrats.
If you're tracking the car yourself, then there's no need to take Car and Driver's word for it as you have your own experiences on which to base your opinions. Yes, we all know that certain parts of the car are not up to track duty, but the majority of people who buy this car are driving it on public roadways.
Please chime in on my thread here: Who Actually Goes to the Track with Their 370Z?
I just get so tired of people quoting the damn magazines as if they were the bible. I get an e-mail a week from friends that have read the Road & Track article asking me if I've upgraded my brakes yet.

For the record, I have tracked most of my vehicles and motorcycles. I've held racing licenses and I was an instructor for a trackday club. I'm just in a different place in my life now with regards to my time obligations, and I'll have to resign myself to enjoying my Z on the road.
When I refer to hooliganism, I'm not suggesting flagrant disregard for the law, I'm implying that on an empty back road with some good twisties, I enjoy braking late and accelerating early when I can.
I live in Amish country. Minus the occasional buggy, it's a pretty safe environment for some spirited driving.

Have a good day!
