you know i don't think i have an ecu issue...

if i cup my hands over my ear so only the sounds from behind come in then i hear the whine, when i cup my hands the other way i don't... so my sound is coming from the back unless it's bouncing around the cabin in odd ways...

If it is from the back of the car it's the fuel pump isn't it? because it's very loud on a cold start and then it goes quieter... i'm only able to hear it when stationary

Fuel pump. I hear mine sometimes especially if the rear carpets are removed.
