Doug DeMuro Reviews the 370Z Nismo...and it doesn't go too well

I stopped listening to this guy a while ago. I think he works for Jalopnik. So him just saying the Z is fun to drive is a miracle in itself.

The obvious criticisms are accurate. Nissan ball dropping at its finest. But I found his review a waste of time. The car is too old for anyone to give a eff except die hardused car buying nissan enthusiasts that don't support new vehicle purchases to make a case for a Z35.

Glad to know from watching this that I can lock my car from the rear hatch by pressing the small round button. Did not know this for the past 7 years of ownership, cool feature and quirk lol

Style of 6? Same as a STI Type RA and Veloster N?

I mentioned before about dtopping the ball. I'm looking at this 370z anniversary edition and it's so disappointing. I mean Nissan flaked out in the worst way...

https://www-caranddriver-com.cdn.amp...photos-info%2F

Going over the specs. It's a sport with the spoiler missing, stickers added and redone seats with a nismo steering wheel stripe. Then they charge you $2600 over the sport... yet... it's a sport... with the wing missing. Oh and they give you the 09 metallic Z floor mat. So did they cancel that mat to bring it back 9 years later?

So many things Nissan could've done better if they were gonna parts bin their way thru their version of a lackey loser anniversary edition?

1. They could've gotten the Nismo suspension and tire size but stay with this basic stock platform.

2. A red console door could've broke up the monotony and red door panel inserts for the white and red. Silver for the silver. Leather wrapping the auto stick while putting a grey boot on the silver and a red boot on the white.

3. Update those gauges for the anniversary edition to be more sport oriented. And got some help from recaro to have a seat design in the same family as the 1LE seats. Keeping the specialness of the nismo whkle giving you a more b ok layered sport seat.
And they could've put seat ventilators.

4 lastly the hood and trunk shouldve been carbon fiber.

I'd probably be asking too much from Nissan for the nismo tune but at least as st the suspension and tire size would've been a great way to end the Z34.

How bout just add an oil cooler, telescoping steering wheel, some better brake ducting, fix the CSC, and add front camber/caster adjustment?

Those are not exactly engineering feats

and on the Nismo, give us the GTR brakes (Omori Factory has the hardware, which means Nissan has the hardware), optional Recaro bucket, make the '09-14 wing an option for 15+ Nismos

also, maybe some 19 inch LMGT4's from the factory

It has a cooler. It needs a secondary cooler though. Possibly a third. Transmission cooling would've not hurt.

The 09 14 wing would be kool.

I watched the video and I actually think it is a valid look at the Nismo version. The footnote being it is an old-school car with an old-school engine

WARNING, I will be getting into some pretty locally specific Czech republic stuff here, so do not read further if not interested

In the Czech republic, the Nismo costs around the same as the V8 Mustang GT (56 000$), so there is not really a reason to go for the Nismo. These are also the only muscle cars you can buy new that are officially imported. I have driven both, the Mustang for over 1000 miles, and IMHO it is just a better car in every aspect I could think of. It may even have lower fuel consumption. However, when we look at the base versions the situation changes dramatically.

The european 370z base already has everything an old-school sports car needs (and not much more, that is true). They even started to throw in the syncro rev for 2019. I got my base for 35 000$, and there is certainly not a car that would be close in engine power for the money.

You have the:

Mazda MX5 and Subaru BRZ for 35 000$ - fun cars, but just lack raw power
Mustang with EcoBoost for 51 500$ - personally, I would not even consider it, as it is just 4 500$ cheaper than the V8
Mustang GT for 56 000$ - yeah, a better car certainly, but 21 000$ above the base Z

and then you have the european high end stuff

Audi TTS for 67 000$ and BMW M2 for 76 000$ - with the czech average salary of 1 250$ a month, these cars are just excessively expensive

So in our country, the 370z is still a relevant car, even after being sold for a decade. The question here is if you can live without all the modern stuff

PS: Having tried "the modern stuff". The absence of line assist, start & stop and some other assistants was actually one of my requirements for the sports car

He spent a lot of time on the info-tainment center as he calls it, I don't have navigation in mine - but the factory NAV and that screen is quite out of date.

No one buys this car for the nav. If you let the nav dictate your decision on what makes a good car, you're an idiot. My 5 year old tablet makes a better infotainment system than nearly every car on the market. This dude is a turd. I don't even give him points for pointing out the obvious.

It's been too expensive since 2010 and the Nismo interior is Spartan.. also known since 2010. 20min car review. 2 min drive. He's more annoying in voice and content than straight piped VQ's and less substance than the OEM exhaust

Another thing I would like to blame Nissan is the pricing strategy. Nissan dealers (at least in my area) post below invoice internet price on their websites all year around. For example, there is a black 2019 Nismo Z automatic in my area with a MSRP of $48.2k and the internet price is $43.5k. To me, if Nissan cannot charge its customers anything above invoice year after year (I bought my 40th Anniversary Edition for $3k below invoice), why even promotes the NISMO Z as a $48,000 car and gives people excuse to hate it? I am pretty sure the press or other car enthusiasts will treat the NISMO Z nicer if they know it is a $44,000 car instead.
