I think it's impossible. Bad taste doesn't disappear when you have money. The newly rich often display their new wealth in hilariously obscene ways.

There is a mod place down the street from me (Platinum motorsports) and they had a Rolls Royce Phantom outside. The owner had decided it would look good to get big, ugly chrome and gold wheels (That don't fit the car AT ALL) along with a matte black paint job.

I'm just wondering about the price of the original paint job and how it was replaced by something vastly inferior/cheaper. Ugly, to boot. The owner probably drives it himself, too.

Wow...that's a cold remark! Personally I like Matte

Taking a 200-300K + car and painting it Matte is another story but still, everyone is entitled to what they like though I suppose (as long as they can afford it and its not a lease

The Gold Rims and other ____, I'm with you there, really don't care for that whole rub it in your face bling bling

No, no. I'm not disliking matte in general. Matte looks really nice on some cars. On a Rolls Royce, it does not. It looks like @$$. Especially considering what the original paint job costs. I.E Nine hundred million, billion dollars.

Some people just go with whatever the current fashion is without thinking whether it actually suits the car or not first.

Wah! Wah! Wah!

Wut? Your mechanic has a dynamometer in his head? Must be a DynoJet, 'cause its reading high...or he is just high as a kite. And from the sounds of it, owning a 1050 WHP Mustang and all, it sounds like he wants to give your car so much power its pointless. Sweet. Twin-Turbo it is!

I <3 this thread - the title alone made it worth it to come in.

I'd be amazed, except that's almost jokingly easy, nowadays. My friend in Omaha had home-built twin-turbo Silverado that was pushing 1100 WHP/Torque (yeah, that much torque, too). Difference is, his power went to the ground and he was running 10.0x's with full 5000lb race weight lol. Sadly, he kept popping head gaskets until he found out there was a microfracture in the block causing the heads to lift eventually. He ended up fixing it and selling it to some dude in Mexico before it ran a 9 unfortunately. It had all the potential, too...

Not to mention the bazillion big-turbo 2JZ-GTW Supra's out there.

Oh I agree, it's just that this is the same guy with a "head dyno" who told Sophia she was pulling an extra 50+ whp so his numbers are highly suspect.

Ohhhh haha, I didnt even think of that until now. Touche! Maybe 1050 WHP is more like, 510.0? Switched those wacky numbers around...

So the truth comes to the surface!Word of mouth by "your mechanic"!Now we are using the new "word of mouth Dyno".
Guy your mechanic don't have a clue and if he truly believes it himself I would bet his stang doesn't have the hp he is telling you?
I would go to a real honest mechanic if I was you before I spend one more dollar at his place!
Bogus numbers could = bogus work!

Maybe full bolt-on's and a tune will get 50+ at the wheels and depends on which dyno too.
