Two relatively simple ways to get of out of if that is the law, make darn sure.
1.) Go to court with print out of law in hand, make sure it references the section. Plead not guilty to the charge. Present evidence. 2.) Hire a lawyer. Let them deal with it. Also, good call on signing the ticket, you are just acknowledging receipt. There is no need to escalate with a cop on the side of the road, ever. It's their party and their rules, they get to determine what the outcome is. If what you are saying is true, the officer who pulled you over is an example of why people think some cops are out of control.
