I was the biggest fan of HF. Then one of their jackstands failed - bar holding the locking mechanism sheared - while I was under my car. My shorts went straight in the trash. Brought the offending jack back to HF and the register clerk, a laid-off Motorola engineer, enlightened me as to the issues with Chinese metallurgy.

The next day I came back and returned the other three. Bought a Quickjack, which is not a euphemism for a lot lizard, and have never been happier.

Chinese metallurgy, what a joke. They don't know how to heat treat. They make it too hard and brittle, or too soft. Anything that I have to trust my life with. I stay away from the chinese junk.

I've seen pictures of their failed jackstands. That's some scary sh!t. I have two of them also.

I wish I had a garage instead of just a carport, I'd have a Quickjack.That's why most of my work get's done by a shop.
