Default My Z is a POS

Ive come to the conclusion that my Z is a POS, and I might sell it (for god knows what other car). Now before you grab the pitchforks hear me out fellow forum friends!

-10k miles my ECU went out
-30k CSC went out, replaced at the dealership and it went out for a second time before making it out of their own driveway.
-40k trunk mechanism failed and locked me out
-45k steering lock failed
-60k trunk lock began to fail again
-69k odd blinking cruise control light that kills my cruise control. dealer can't seem to figure this one out
-69k have to rev the engine in order to turn on the car or itll bog out (once its on it stays on) currently at the dealership for this one AND the final straw for me.

granted this has all be replaced by warranty (extended warranty) and it isn't as bad as some other peoples experiences. Even my local dealership knows me and ask what else has broken every time I walk in lol. Its made it difficult to enjoy the thing when I feel like its waiting for my warranty to end and induce some sort catastrophic failure I have the greatest Love/Hate relationship.

Biggest reason I havent sold it is because I can't find anything with the same power/refinement/value. The Z is a pretty good car for the price. WRX interior looks and feels cheap, GTI FWD.. meh. Mustang GT (out of my price range). Maybe a miata? lol. Or I suppose I can keep the Z and pray to the sports car gods that It stops breaking

Kind of sounds like you need to sell your Z for another Z.

You may have gotten a lemon. Trading it in for new isn't the worst idea I've ever heard. Was all the repair work done by the same dealership? You might need a new dealership/shop more than you need a new Z.

Sell it or trade it in for another Z. It is a great car and unfortunately you got stuck with one that had some issues. That said, they were not HUGE issues like an engine or trans. replacement.
Most of the issues you had were issues that were covered under warranty. Ask the MOOOstang, Camaro, Challenger, etc. owners just how many major malfunctions they have had on their 'whips'? Your Z issues, although a major PITA for you, will be minor in comparison.

Wow you are one tough customer, I dont know how I would feel if I had all those problems with my car. Kudos to you! But like everyone has said sell it and buy another Z, there really isnt anything comparable in its price range and anything that is close in comparison is gonna be more in maintenance Z4m, M3 and Cayman S.

I'd get rid of it too. Enough is enough.

Better luck with your next car--whatever it is.

Did you buy your Z new or used? Having the ECU burn out at 10k is unreal!

In 53k, my Z has needed one repair, steering lock. Done under warranty fo' free.

DUUUUDE. I know what you mean. I'm with you. I'm one of the few unlucky ones that had problems month after month.
Steering lock got stuck first month I got the car. Didn't know to pull the fuse, had to replace then pull

Engine got rod knock, no oil. Checked the week before and was full. Replaced the engine

Slave went out a week after. Dished out 2k for clutch he csc Cmc labor

5th gear started to scratch badly. Now I double clutch 5th all the time now

Ac compressor went out. Replaced it with another compressor $700 + labor
Surprising cause most people's acs don't seem to fail.

Then after a week or so, the ac clutch was partially disengaging causing the belt to burn, bought another one. Could not get a refund or replacement as they considered the part incorrectly installed -.-

Got rear ended on the freeway. Insurance took months to get the money from this guys insurance. They would not answer calls or anything. Cheap insurance from his side

Unexplained limp mode. Oil temp in check, no cel or anything. Happens every blue moon

Negative battery clamp came off during highway driving. Everything shut off. No power steering or abs. Scariest moment of my life and surprising considering that if the battery lost power the alternator should of kept it on. So idk what happened there.

Power steering pump went out. Replaced that

Garage shut on my car so there a big scratch down the hood (I have a Seibon hood now)
Neighbors garage button somehow connected with mine and closed mine while I was partially out of the garage

Then someone vandalized my side mirror bashing it in. Luckily I bought a used one in good condition same paint code for $70

And my front end links snapped at stock height with hotchkis sway bars. After a couple weeks, normal driving

All of this within the year of getting the car. It's been a nightmare tbh. Had a 350z then g35 but never had so many problems so close in time. Was really considering selling the car. But each time I fix it, I'm hoping it's the last time for a while my car is going to be breaking somehow

Bought this car used, 60k miles for 14k 2 years ago.
Brought it to a shop for problems. Came out good. Oil was good compression was good, fluids etc. sucks cause this stuff will happen out of nowhere.

OP, I feel sorry for your experience.

And I will suggest you trade it for another Z.

You're just being unfortunate to receive a fail one, but I don't think all the Zs are like that.

Trade it before the warranty expired and get another one, the dealer will offer you a good price for sure.

OP, sorry to hear. Unfortunately bad luck happens to good people too. I agree with what you said, it's hard to find another car with the power/refinement/value and I'll add another, feel, as the Z.

I recently went through a couple months of test drives, with 4 other competitors and the Z sets a high bar with the 4 criteria's listed above. I've settled on the M2 (which I'll be getting shortly), as I've decided I want 4 seats, due to an expected grandchild. The M2 beats the Z in power/refinement/practicality but there's a very good chance value and feel will still go to the Z.

I'd say, go with another Z and try the RJM clutch pedal. While not a guarantee, I believe it helps with the CSC issue.

Default Z Problems

Yeah. Trade it in on a new Z. These problems never seem to stop. All Z's are not problems. We would hear all about it. PS: the lemon law only applys to the same problem occurring over and over.

the price for a new 370z isn't worth it imo, you can get better cars for the money.

OK KrnAndy, list these "better cars" but make certain they are comparable to the Z in every way; price, performance, handling, maintanance, bang for the buck, everything needs to be relevant???
