I still haven't gotten the first change yet but I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to do it myself and buy the tires when I'll need them.

Any ideas?

a set of tires costs a small fortune. do the math, check Tire Rack online, then compare that to the cost of how many oil changes you plan on over 12k-15k miles

I'm not understanding your logic here. Tires will last much longer than 12-15k miles.

Which tires are you talking about? The high-performance, sticky tires on a Z? Or a set on a Smart car?

Dammit, thread O/T sorry.

Hmmm not sure if serious.

Brother in law has 37k (two weeks ago) and running on the same set of tires and no.... they aren't showing retread. Not too mention my Mustang has a set of stickys that are sitting at 27k and looking more than fine.

Did you experience this mileage first hand with your tires?

I had that with a car from chrysler, make sure you do the changes right on time that they say. When I went to get the new tires for my chrysler, they looked in the records and said that I went over their recommended milage changes on a couple of ocassions and wouldnt honor the deal even tho I did all the oil changes with them.
