Default Hit a curb...thoughts? :(

I was moving cars this morning (I live in a townhouse with limited parking), and we have one of those sewer inlets/runoffs in front of my house on the opposite side of the road; my front tire kind of got stuck in the slope/hole, and as I was trying to gas out of it I clipped the corner of the curb pretty hard as I wasn't able to turn in time due to the wheel being wedged in the hole. I took a chunk out of the side wall of my tire and scraped up my rim bad. :\ The tire doesn’t look very safe to drive on anymore, I've attached a couple pics of the damage.

What do you guys think, is there a way I can salvage this with the tires I have or will I have to buy two new front ones? I have about 16k miles on these right now from when I bought it new. And what should I do about the rim, is there a cheap way to cover up the scrapes?

I would get a new pair of tires. The rim is fixable, Google wheel repair specialist in your area, should run you 60-100 for the repair.

a thought would be dont hit the curb.. but we all have done it

I agree with zbrah on the fixes; new tires and smooth out and paint the wheel from a repair shop

As mentioned above, your wheel is definitely repairable. Plus, it looks like you need to change your tires anyway.

We've all been there. Agree with above comments - definitely new tires (I wouldn't drive on that tire... even a short distance to the repair shop - change over to the spare first). Wheel is definitely fixable.

Get a paid of new tires. It is very dangerous to drive it like that. Your wheel can definitely be repaired for less than $100.

Tire is screwed. Have rim checked to make sure it didn't get bent or cracked. If checks out ok then repair it. Or better reason to get new rims and tired? Also call city to have that hole fixed in the road.

I agree with everyone else - tire has too much damage to the sidewall to be safe; if not bent, wheel should be repairable.

I've been driving for over two years with a chunk about like that out of my front tire. Zero issues. I thought it was leaking at first, but I think I have a bad valve stem or insert.

I would get an alignment ($60), refinish wheel ($100 optional), and replace with a used tire. ($30 or so)

Fix the front wheel, buy a set of 275/40-18's for the back and move the back tires up front. That way you will have a more aggressive looking car to show for the $$ you spent.
