Default "service engine soon"

Have it scanned for code? Most likely it is oil or something that needs changed.

Sounds like the warning light for your oil change.

If you bring it to any larger auto part store, they will plug into the OBDII port and suck the code information from the ECU. From there, you can start to diagnose the problem. Could be anything from a loose fuel cap to a hundred other things. Keep us posted on what is found...

I bought a code reader off Amazon. Like $30. Has served me well. Esp. if you have mods, not uncommon to throw a code. Get the code, Google it, and if it doesn't look major, reset it and see if it comes back.

Buy one, it's we'll worth it. Already saved me a lot in time & money on the 4 cars I've had since getting it.

I work at a parts store (Advance) and like has been said above, just buy an inexpensive scan tool, read the code and Google it. The code only gives an indication of what circuit is giving you problems, it isn't always the sensor itself. TBH, I'll read the code, then sell you the most expensive part in that circuit.

Don't take the parts guys word for anything. Most of them can barely tie their own shoelaces, and most of them drive pos junkers that are held together by baling wire and bubble gum. People freak when I drive the Z to the parts store, get out in my red shirt and step behind the counter. I get all the 'how do I fix my car' questions, to which my response is 'Google is your friend'. They pay me $8 an hour to sell parts, not diagnose your broke down pos. Diagnostics are $100 an hour.....

The SES light is most often related to emissions issues.

An OBD scan tool is your best friend when it comes to trouble-shooting modern cars.

Get the Bafx Bluetooth OBDII from Amazon to work with the Torque app, just got one, works perfectly for $22.
