I work at a parts store (Advance) and like has been said above, just buy an inexpensive scan tool, read the code and Google it. The code only gives an indication of what circuit is giving you problems, it isn't always the sensor itself. TBH, I'll read the code, then sell you the most expensive part in that circuit.

Don't take the parts guys word for anything. Most of them can barely tie their own shoelaces, and most of them drive pos junkers that are held together by baling wire and bubble gum. People freak when I drive the Z to the parts store, get out in my red shirt and step behind the counter. I get all the 'how do I fix my car' questions, to which my response is 'Google is your friend'. They pay me $8 an hour to sell parts, not diagnose your broke down pos. Diagnostics are $100 an hour.....
