Default "Engine service soon" light

Before I take it to Nissan and have them run it to see what codes it brings up just want to ask a couple things

I drive a 09 370z Touring non sport 6 speed Manual transmission. I bought it with 87K miles. CARFAX is clean and car is in good condition. Everything is dry underneath and no sign of leaks other than the Passenger side floor is soaked. After reading through the threads and other forums it sounds like I MAY have a clogged drain or tube. Would that or something related to this keep the service light on? I got the oil changed and diff service. I can't remember if I changed the transmission and clutch fluid. Just didn't do filters. The engine light is still on and it's annoying the crap out of me. Any ideas? I read most common for the check engine light is the catalytic converters...I'm hoping that's all other than the leak but who knows...

Thanks,

You can ÁSS-U-ME (make an àss out of u and me)

But it won't help anyone. Don't go to the dealer to get it diagnosed, call your local auto parts store and ask if they read codes for free.

Besides that, don't waste your time trying to figure it out. And drain tube? Our car doesn't have a sunroof. Your problem is most likely what I have/had. The wiring thingy is broken underneath the battery. Oh, and that means 99% your car had major service done to it because it usually doesn't break for no reason

Another thing, CarFax is a LOAD OF SHÍT. It barely can indicate if your car was in an accident or something. Barely.

Thanks and you said "have/had" did you get it fix or still pending? and was it expensive? I know nothing about cars and learning as much as I can so I will have to pay someone..

DE u on drugs? the hell u talking about? he's referring to the drain tube for the a/c. our cars have one and possibly clogged resulting in the passenger floor being wet. it's easy to check, run a/c and look under the car without even lifting it. if there is no puddle, it is clogged..

Figure out your CEL.

Find the DIY to remove the car battery, buy a friend who knows more about cars than you a few beers to remove it. You'll see what's wrong on my car. The fix is a band aid that works. But water leaks every so often.

And the drive shaft is OEM

That's what I meant. I was reading off the 350z forum. I typed in water leak and it popped up so just comparing problems. But yes I'll run the a/c and check that. It stopped for now but I haven't been using the ac so hopefully that's it...Thanks again guys

Default Aibag light on (in speedo)

Ok all you very knowledgable z backyardtechnitions (is that a word) heres one for you.
When i bought the car the owner sold it because the "stealership" wanted 4k to fix. (2500 for sensor in the passanger seat, and 1500 for labor) the car has never been crashed and was well taken care of. I tried resetting the light (via the posts about "resetting airbag light") but those posts referred resetting due to a sterio change and code thrown. How can i pull this light out and disable it, or what are your suggestions. Does the speedo gauge come out without great difficulty? Has anybody else had this situation? Please help- "the zawaiian"

Clearing/resetting the code won't do any good until you fix the seat sensor.

The FSM has procedures for removing the light assembly but I don't recall if it gives instructions on how to disassemble the light to get to the lamp. Download FSM using link in my sig.
You could unplug the wiring connector but that might throw another error. Worth a try.

The dash cluster (speedo, tach, &c) is considered one assembly with no serviceable parts - if any part doesn't work, replace the whole thing. Ie, you might be able to get it out but it's going to be a royal PITA.

Anybody who removes the CEL is short sighted. The OEM diagnostic system is sophisticated and can help prevent major problems with your Z. As mentioned, fix the cause of the CEL is your best bet, rather than ignoring it.
