Default WOW just got told off by a dealer

So i goto this dealership in NJ West Winsor Nissan I drive up to the lot in my car (which is not bad at all) and go up to this white z I saw after a little bit someone came out the guy asked if I liked the car and told me if I wanted to he would get the keys I said sure he says you need to go do some paper work to get in the car we dont let people take test drives. I told him I just wanted to open the door and hood since it was a 09 used with 3,000 miles on it. He said I need to have a parent or some payment first. I am 25 years old Drive a 2006 Grand Cherokee Overland with no stickers, wheels, or anything that makes me look like a kid. The manager walks out and says I am going to start your paperwork and then we can look in the car. I told him that I wont sign anything and was about to leave when he said come back with a parent or some money and you can sit in it.

I dont know if the guy was having a bad day but I just thought that was wierd is that a new thing dealers are doing to sell cars...

O and i was dressed nice not like a bum looking to drive a cool car and leave...

Guess dealerships are not hurting that bad. I agree, talk with your money, by taking it elsewhere.

Edit: To make you feel better, the same thing happened to me when I wanted to test drive an Evo MR. I even had a guy from the same dealership (but Hyundai) say let him drive it, but the manager from Mitsubishi side comes running and and throws a hissey fit and says no. You see where I took my money.

Some dealers don't know the meaning of customer service. I first went to a local dealer with my father to check out a Z. I'll put aside the fact that they had no idea what Z's they had in stock and made me wait an hour for a test drive. However, the sales manager was a complete @$$. He leaves his m6 with its tacky vanity plate in the handicap spot right in front and thinks he's a millionare. Now you have a law student and a well to be surgeon as a possible sale. We made an offer, I thought it was fair on a sport/touring Z. He could have just said no, heck that's what we said, here is our offer tell us yes or no. Instead he goes off ranting, "I want to know how you got to this number" on a 45K Z. If you don't have the money then don't waste my time." Really guy, not to be a dk but you're talking to someone who could probably take the Z and the GTR if he felt like it. I'm sorry you had a sad experience, F them and get it somehwere else there are plenty of nissan dealers who can make purchasing a Z a pleasurable experience.

Yea it just stinks because here in Morgantown, WV we have one dealer and their prices are atrocious to high like a 4k mark up and their customer service is good but they do not negotiate at all

So in order to get one i need to goto pittsburg or my hometown in jerz

Wow, so glad I did not have experiences like this.
I was 100 dollars away from invoice at one dealership and another offered me invoice. Was wanting to use the 100 over guy since he got my sister a below price deal on her Murano and such, but a better deal is a better deal. His final comment, "well if 100 dollars is going to break this deal, then maybe you should keep your Saturn until you can afford this car." Was polite after he said that, and said bye and bought my Z at the other dealership two weeks later when it arrived.

Sucks to because it is just down the road from my office and I was going to use them for any repairs and such I need, but even now it is worth the extra 20 minute trip to go to the dealership that treated me better.

Dude, I got a great deal in Jersey. It about 2 hours from Long Island, NY but hey for a good price and good service I don't mind. Guy even took the time to "show me around" my new Z.

I get the "you're too young to afford anything" treatment everywhere I go. The dealerships, jewelry stores, everywhere. It's sad, really.

The only places that treat me right are tattoo shops, haha.

Don't worry, happened to me on wed. (well not exactly like yours) I did feel Like they were treating me like a kid.....you know what you should do, go buy a scratchoff, tell them "I have money with me" and after they sit you down and process your papers then ask for your card, pull out the scratch off and say "what ever I get on here is my down payment" that'll teach them......ooorrrr you could just key all their cars....VERY deep.....

Wow thats sad some one treats you like that specially if you didnt give any disrespect. What harm could come from sitting in it or looking at the engine. I mean not as if you was dressed in mud(you werent were you? hehe).

I agree with others, i would have requested to speak to some one else.

I was pre-approved for a 50k loan walking into a dealer and they wouldn't allow a test drive unless I was "ready to buy." Retarded. Went to a Grubbs and hit 100 on the access road in their T/S Z. I was sold, for both the car and the dealer. Amazing how easy it is. Too bad the guy couldn't find a Nismo for me, I really wanted to buy from him.

I would have a chat with the General Manager. If he concurs the salesman's attitude, then I would be sure to let the owner of the dealership know, if not also the BBB and Nissan.

Granted, Nissan doesn't "do" anything with the dealers, but, if they aren't selling cars...Nissan would know why...
