yes I can drive an MT car. as for heel toe, I've done it but it was playing around never like full on 100% track mode stuff since my MT's were in my younger days when all ATs were atrocious nasty trannys.

I haven't had to do it in awhile but it would surely come back. last MT I drove hard was in a E46 M3 competition model, short throw, coilovers, cage, etc.... it was a good bit of fun. I actually really liked it.

was hoping to have a 03 911 turbo to play with soon but that fell through.

Yah unless I need full braking I use the side of my foot to blip. for me it was like learning a musical instrument. Took yrs to perfect. I lol at "MT drivers" dat can't brake and blip at the same time coming up on a turn or to a stop light ..Like drivers dat have non SRV cars aka STI, S2K, MX5, etc.. Too bad Nissan came up with SRV. Real MT guys don't need it.

Another annoying feature on newer MT cars is hill brake assist. Faking feels like da car is going to stall.

Ah yes, the "hill-holder" brake assist developed by Bendix, and first optional on the 1936 Studebaker..... one of the "newer MT cars." 😏

I'm guilty... not that I don't practice but I am definitely guilty of using the s-mode to downshift more than my capabilities without it

yah, but the Z's lagging throttle response, its better to just use srv on this car.

going uphill from a stop i just blip the throttle while im still holding the brake and engage the clutch. there is no fast moving feet. the only time i use e-brake is backing out of a down hill parking spot. but then u introduce hill assist braking, the faking brakes do not release when u want it to which can potentially cause a stall. my STI has this feature i really dont need.

I noticed that when it was off which is not that big of an issue when just cruising but when you started getting spirited it was like really clunky. haven't tried as much after the tune srv off... waiting for warmer weather first lol

is the hill assist/brake assist on/off switch or always on?

im not sure. i think one might be able to defeat it somehow, but i haven't messed with it. i dont usually let the car roll anyway so it's not a big deal but that first few times when the car was brand new and while i was still familiarizing myself with the car, it bothered me.

Late to the party it looks like but for anyone who is considering a ND miata or the 370. Go sit in each one, I sat in an ND miata with the roof down and I understood the definition of clausterphobia a little better. It felt very small, and this is coming from someone who has daily driven their Z for over a year now. I would also argue that its just a different class of car. If you drive a 370z your more likely to feel "in competition" with other cars that roll up next to you, not that anyone ever actually should act on this. But its a nice feeling to know "i could if I wanted to" or something along those lines. And in the Miata your not going to get that feeling.

That being said, I saw 55 million miatas at my first autocross event the other day and I was the only 370z. (there was a gorgeous 280z tho) So for the cheapest possible true drivers car, maybe miata drivers know something I don't. For a daily? I've never regretted my choice. Plus now that my baby is up to almost 400 horses, that's a nice feeling.
