I just can't stand the front end of the genesis. I looks like someone that chews with their mouth open.

Speaking out of personal experience, I'm glad I'm in my 370. I had a Genesis 3.8 with everything you could ever want. It's just that I wouldn't trust it at all. I had it for the minimum time possible and as soon as I could get rid of it, I did. Damn the money lost on depreciation (a much more meaningful statement if anyone realizes how cheap I can be). The Genesis just didn't feel "tight" if you will, all the elements that it should have were there but somehow they never worked together to add confidence. It did have a good warranty though, it needed it. It went back for one reason or another every few weeks.

How long did you have it for ?

The Comparison

I would of considered the Gen. just like the G37 but coupe lacked some of Nissan’s refinement overall, and the G37 wasn’t worth the extra money when you considered it looked more Lexus like than the G35, including a interior that was a little dated. Footnote wise here: Hyundai engineers promised a V8 right before the coupe was released and it never happen, it would of persuaded me much further had they kept their promise, just think how many Mustang and Camaro owners would reacted.

Before I got my '13 Z, I test-drove both. Genesis wasn't too bad: liked the exhaust noise a lot, the price even with nav + sunroof(Z does not offer) + leather seats. The 6 spd transmission felt kinda rubbery and the styling is...either like it or hate it.

Despite of all that, I wasn't sold and still chose the Z because it has the car's history, the styling, the performance, the value and the fact that I owned Z31 and Z32 in the past.

I am still happy with my decision after 2.5 years.:rofl2::driving:

It wasn't exactly promised. They attempted to transversely fit the v8 in for production. It hindered performance. Putting it in longitudinally didn't fit. Rhys Millen team built a rear engine version. Too costly. It would've been a $70,000 car. They tried, which is more than I can say for Nissan, as of lately. Unfortunately, making a v8 coupe wasn't a thought till the market began asking for it.

The rumor mill over the Genny forum is almost as crazy as the Z35 stuff here. A concept coupe debuted a few days ago. It's enormous. Big v8, looks like a Bentley. Glad it's just a concept.

I've owned a 2006 g35 coupe, 2012 Genesis coupe 3.8 track and now I have a 370z so I definitely know these cars well. I can say that the genesis coupe definitely feels like a g35/370z but it's just not as crisp. the shifting is not as sharp, the clutch doesn't feel as smooth and the steering isn't as clean. anyway, both are great cars. I miss my genny coupe but I got married and bought my wife a 2014 MDX and started driving her 2012 Elantra. traded the Elantra for the 2016 base Z. my morning commute just got a hell of a lot more fun.:driving:

The Genesis is a great car, and was a close second to the Z, when I compared the two before my purchase. However, IMHO the Genesis transmission was really lacking.

Lets just be clear on one thing...... as seen below

Crossed shopped them as well before settling on a Z. Couldn't get over the fact that the front looked like a Pontiac.

The Genesis isn't in the same class as the Z.
The Z is a poor man's Cayman. Personally, I like the look of the Z better, but Porsche is Porcshe.

The Z is a two seat sports car, complaining about cargo space and versatility is ridicules. If you want versatility buy a quad cab pickup.

I am fortunate enough to have different vehicles for different purposes, and my Z is for my own selfish personal enjoyment.
