I'm not a fan of the new front fascia on the genesis though. I had the 2012 model which I prefer the looks over the refresh.

In all honesty, you can't really compare the 2. One is a 2 seater sport coupe and the other is a "luxury" sport coupe. BUt if you ever have a chance to test drive one, you'll def see that they're pretty decent rides. I really do miss my 2012 Genesis although I love my 2016 Z too. If I had to pick between the genesis coupe 3.8 and a 370z it'd be a super hard choice which would boil down to whether or not I need practicality.

The only reason I was okay with purchasing a Z and not another Genesis is that I already bought my wife a 2014 loaded out MDX which has all the creature comforts for when we go on trips and when we decide to have kids. Plus, my friend had owned a 350z when I had my G35 several years back and def loved how the Z felt.

BTW, I'm not some type of Hyundai lover.... I just like all types of vehicles from all manufacturers. Hell, I even really like those new 'stangs and those new focus ST's are pretty beast too. :driving:

Indeed. Not sure if anyone here watches/watched 'Burn Notice', but Fiona drove a Genesis that looked pretty good (though not as good as my current Z).

Please don't compare a 370z to a porsche. if you've ever driven one, you know, they're porsches and in a league of their own.

you are right though, aesthetically, they do look quite similar.

The only reason I brought up the porsche 944 is because someone triad to compare the 370 to a cayman and I thought they were way off base, but I stand by my statement of comparison to the 370 being an modern asian 944.

I mainly lurk to keep up with the Z, but man, I'd rather have a Z than a Porsche any day. I had a 280zx with full suspension and built motor and a minty fresh 1985.5 944 with 50k miles on it and all the options. My Z was a miles better car, and still quicker and loads more fun than the Porsche while stock. After the upgrades it blew it away in every regard as far as driving. I sold the 944 for what I had in it in about 6 months. But my old Z is still my favorite car I've ever had. The Z's have personality and character while P cars are slightly "soulless". I look forward to the next Z and hope to be in one if it's any good :tiphat:

Good response Chat I had a chance to order and buy a 1983 944, but out of the other two candidates Mustang GT, and Z-28 with the new 5.0 H.O I went with the Camaro for the styling, handling and performance upgrades. The early 944 had a real low horse power 4 cylinder.

While I agree with you about a 280 vs a 944 driving dynamics and fun factor a 911 is COMPLETELY different ball game in EVERY aspect.

Porsche has its uniqueness. Mostly it's in the 911. Honestly I think what makes the Z a true drivers car is it's flaws... German cars are becoming over engineered. **** a Z in some ways is over engineered. But, I feel, you become a better driver in a Z or 911 over a Cayman.

My complaints with the Z are with basics. Not power or handling. Maybe just engineering out that understeer. Updating the vdc a Lil.. But updating the cockpit or body styling better. Maybe they could have gone D.I.? DI would have given the Z more responsiveness at the pedal.

Nissan just needed to do small things. Not huge ones.

I will claim I have a little brand loyalty as I have owned 4 Nissan trucks so far. I also ran a used car lot for 8 years. Hyundai is a decent car and has made huge strides since they 1st came onto the market but I still can't get over the issues that have been associated to Hyundai starting back then. I have a couple friends that have Hyundai's. They seem to be nice cars now but I haven't had any problems at all with Nissan either. Well I will also say my brother works at a Nissan dealership as a parts manager & Mom also has owned a few so they also are kind of brand loyal. I have always felt the 2nd gen 300z thru 370z's are IMO 1 of the sexiest looking cars on the market at any price. I cannot say that about any Hyundai. I also feel more comfortable with the reliability of Nissan over Hyundai even though they are pretty good now. Sure they don't have a 10 year warranty on a Nissan but I haven't had to use my warranty since buying new Nissan's from 2012 on for anything. My new one does have all the toys except the Nismo package & I paid more than you would for Genesis but I wanted a Z for a long time & now I have one with the Sport package and the Touring package:tiphat:

This is a probably a moribund thread but just to answer the question since I didn't answer it earlier, sorry. I had the Genesis for about 1 1/2 years.

After 30k miles finally put new rubber on my 3.8. Now stock for stock my 370 was quicker off the line. No argument but these new Super Sports just about made it equal. Grip is insane. sure upgrade the Z to same, etc. Finally have some decent grip is nice!!
