Oil Capacity between the dots on the dip stick

I was wondering if anyone knows the accurate capacity between the upper and lower dots on the oil dip stick.

During my recent oil change, I poured in about .75 quart of oil and that moved the mark from about half way to about 80% near the upper dot (I waited a couple of hours before checking). Based on that measurement, it appears that it is about 2 q. between the dots which I think it quite high?

Another question is where do most of you fill the oil up to relative to the dots? I left mine at about 80% full.
