Most dipsticks are "calibrated" so that there is about 1 quart/liter between the H and L marks.
I aim for about 75% "full" but some engines seem to like a little more or a little less. To sum it up: no hard and fast rules. ![]() Owner's Manuals sometimes have that info. Or, in this case, maybe the FSM.
