I also get the rattle or buzz noise right at 5000 rpm, so I just make sure never to stay there. It comes from the shifter and if I hold it down a bit it goes away, so it's in the bezel or shifter. It's annoying for sure but it's a narrow rpm range that it happens. There is some weird resonance thing happening.

When your slave went out did it feel like you had no clutch pressure in the pedal?

The pressure would change over the year I was having problems tHe pedal would stick down and I would have to lift it up and it would grind gears when I would shift when the pressure was low. When it failed completely there was no pressure at all in the clutch pedal and it wouldnt return at all and I was unable to get the car into gear. For all those out there with 2009's that make this noise it might be silicone crud stuck in your heater core bouncing around. There is a tsb out about this and it may apply to me or it's in the shifter trim like previously noted. If your having pressure problems it's probably your slave cylinder in the clutch and when it fails it sucks. I'm trying to make Nissan replace all parts that were worn out as a result of this failure I have been complaing about for over a year.

If it helps you any, I had an '09 with that problem. Dealership said nothing was wrong with it until I had a catastrophic clutch failure at which point they replaced everything for free (clutch, flywheel erc)

Mine does not do this. I'm at 7500 smooth as butter.

Seems to be a common problem... I had mine replaced after it went out the first time. I had no pressure and I was 80 miles from home

Since then clutch has been good but lately I have been noticing the pressure is slowely going away again. Somedays its good normal pressure and some days 75-80% and about an inch less travel.

Soon I will be replacing the lines with better quality and Im thinking about an aftermatker raplacement booster. hopefuly that will solve the problem or stop it from happening again.

Reviving this to say I love this forum...guess I'm in the market for a new shifter bezel...does anyone know what's different about the replacements that prevents them from making those unbearable noises at 4500-5500 RPMs? Am I damaging the tranny by driving it until I replace it? It's a 2010 btw

I have a similar noise coming from my shifter. Usually at higher RPM's I get a rattle which sounds like it comes from the shifter. Took it to Nissan and they said it's normal. Caused by the torque at higher RPM's. Friend on mine said he had a similar issue on his BMW, come to find out his hood latch was cause the noise and the shifter is a focal point where is creates the sould. I put some mechanical greese on my hood latch and that seemed to work for a while. The noise soon returned. I'm going to try thicker greese and see what happens.

But I think the shifter bezel could be a cause based on this thread.
