I don't think I chirped the tires but under WOT my car is plenty loud with the test pipes, berk exhaust, and supercharger combo. He could've at least ticketed me for the exhaust. I think he was too busy cracking down on all the illegal fireworks going off in the area.

MJB 07-06-2012 06:58 AM

doda74, nice Nismo! I've seen your video before on Youtube but didn't realize you were a member on here.

I was lucky that was all he did.

Killer Nismo, it always feels good stumbling across understanding officers. Shows that they are not out to get you.

DLo 07-06-2012 09:10 AM

Just got my 2012 Nismo and have definitely gotten both positive and negative attention thus far here in LA. There seems to be a lot of people rubber necking to check out the car, but also getting mean mugs from younger guys in what I believe to be inferior cars to the Nismo. Regardless, the general sentiment is positive and I must agree. The car is just so damn sexy!

MJB 07-07-2012 09:58 AM

As I was driving down the road in my Nismo yesterday, had a really mean looking mustang (newer Boss, possibly Shelby) drive by me going the opposite direction... As he went passed me he rev his engine and it scared the living sh*t out of me, as I had my windows down and was not expecting that lol. He probably got a good laugh at my reaction.

tanamerra 07-08-2012 06:50 PM

Had a few people ask to take pics when stopped for gas. Guess there are not too many Nismos in De. Have only seen one with De. plates this year.

Drive to work this morning, the daily radar cop had someone pulled over...he was just half a block ahead of me and I got on it a little off the light. The way he made a double take at me and raised his eyebrows was just hilarious... I wish I could have that on tape haha. Well I'm sure it was my exhaust that got him to turn lol

My Nismo does not get as much attention as my 1994 MKIV TT Supra, but I see people looking!!

Nuki 07-09-2012 09:53 PM

I'd be staring too if I saw you driving that sucker. The Z is a dream car for me, even more so the Nismo, but the MKIV Supra.... I had a MKIII that I loved dearly, and always dreamed of getting the MKIV.

Someday, someday.

Is it faster than the Nismo too?

Whats up with all these big trucks always trying to race? Tonight I was getting on the freeway and went immediately to the fast lane. This big redneck lifted dodge or ford diesel sped up and got right up my arse. He was driving the speed limit till I got in the fast lane and then he wanted to act stupid. So I sped up a little just to get him off my tail (he couldn't have been more than a couple feet from my bumper) and he proceeded to speed up and match me. So I turned on my turn signal to get in the right lane and as I was merging over he decides to go the same way around me, I had to jerk back into the fast lane. He speeds by also cutting off a few other people and starts weaving in and out of the lanes around people just to get ahead of the crowd. Like I said, he was driving normal till he saw my Nismo. I've seen a bunch of these types of trucks drive real aggressively on the freeway like these. Whats up with these guys?

dmhenderson 07-12-2012 09:34 PM

I had some fun with a guy in a dropped, heavily modded F150 on my way up to Carlisle earlier. Supercharger etc - seeing him peel out in 4th gear made me smile. Anyway, he was doing much of what you're describing above but without being a **** about it. We'd hit an empty stretch of road and open it up, then back off and do it again.

Eventually, we got up near Camp David (Obama was there that weekend) and I kept flashing him the 5-0 hand signal over and over and he just gave me a thumbs up and took off like a bat out of hell.

Sure enough, 10 minutes later I passed him pulled over in a speed trap in the median.

dmhenderson 07-12-2012 09:37 PM

Also it helps that most of the police in my town belong to my gym. I've gotten a finger wag or two blowing through speedtraps around town and a few "oh look it's speed racer" comments at the gym but have not been pulled over*

*knock on wood

MJB 07-12-2012 09:40 PM

^ Hmm, I don't understand why people feel they need to modify a vehicle thats designed for work, rough terrain, towing.. ect,.. and drive it like a sports/muscle car. To each their own I suppose.

I got this every now and then when I was in the 350Z. My best assessment comes down to guys with misguided "buy 'Merican, I hate dem dere rice burnin jap mobiles... Remember Pearl Harbor" douchebags that usually have some Penile length issues so they have to buy the biggest truck they can and jack it up to compensate. Cuz nothing takes away those insecurities like a big manly truck for all to see. These guys are usually mad haters when they see a vehicle of our type.

Seriously, this is why I have a CCW. You never know when one of them is going to take it further than just harassment while driving.

My apologies to all those with trucks here and aren't like this. I love me a nice truck and would have one any day of the week. I just never felt the need to compensate.

That happens to me all the time. Hate having trucks up my @ss, only way to shake them is to cruise at around 100. They wont be able to maintain that speed for long because they will need to have their foot on the floor. Just the other day i had a 90's suburban up my @ss and then blew past me, weaving in and out of traffic on I-95.

Thats exactly whats going though my mind when they are on my @ss. But i wonder if they are actually in a friendly mindset and just exited to see the car? We should post on the truck forums and ask what in the hell they are thinking? Whats the website again douchebagrepressedhomosexuality4x4.com/forums

No, I don't believe they have that mentality. I really do think they want to race or have something to prove. I've had several of these types of trucks that will drive next to me and then take off full throttle. I remember when I had my 350z I had this Toyota Tundra that kept trying to get me to run.

The Japanese site is sukoshipenis.com (South Park reference), and its American site littlemanbigtruck.org.

You can always tell who the haters are. I respect all vehicles and have no particular hate for any particular model, just the drivers that tend to buy them. Some models do have tendency to draw a certain "type" to them, SRT-4 douchenozzles come to mind to anyone? These guys have a tendency to have a Calvin pissing on a ford/chevy decal somewhere on the back window. That's usually a dead give away.

A true car enthusiast, respects any nice ride.

Dude, when theyre three feet off your bumper, I don't think theyre looking to run. They're trying to intimidate you with their projection of manliness. When they weave dangerously through traffic, thats your sign right there.

NissanGuy23 07-13-2012 02:10 PM

Just today had a suv cross past me i was at a stoplight, kid in the back and guy up front both gave thumbs up as they passed.

Effen5 07-13-2012 04:01 PM

I would never ever race or speed on the highway but I've had a few hilarious ones.

A camry wanted race me on the expressway in Chicago.
Same with a honda civic.

And this hot blonde in a jeep gave me a thumbs up.

I did see a Ferrari F50 and I wanted to go after him badly but he was pushing 140 on the highway.

Re: Trucks

Last week on my way home this clean older 2 door ford truck came behind me and after I put my foot down a little he got excited and came to my left at the red light a few blocks ahead...He was like staring at me but I didn't mind him and thought he was just checking out the Z...I took off from the light a little hard and he was next to me by the time I red-lined into 2nd, he flew by! That thing was so flipin loud that my ear was ringing for the whole ride home, he was pushing a whole lot i'm sure. I felt like I was parked when he passed by. I gave him a thumbs up at the next light he didn't even give me a reaction lol ..that thing had a plastic rear window and a full on roll cage! Exhaust tips were pointing out the sides. Pretty bada$$.

MJB 07-13-2012 06:54 PM

Talked to a guy the other day at the car wash who had a PW Nismo 350z. Pretty clean Z minus some of the rock chips on the front (had over 50k miles). He was checking out my Nismo and said that he was planning on buying one as well. The only thing he disliked about the Nismo 370z was it didn't have the two tone paint scheme like on the 350z Nismo. I would have to agree on that. Sorry, should have gotten a picture of both Z's together :(

I finally put my VIS hood today. And it looks GREAT!!!!!! Now I want to paint it.

MJB 07-14-2012 02:05 PM

When I was pulling out of the gas station earlier this morning, a couple of teenage guys in a Altima or Maxima pulled in and gave me a thumbs up. I felt kinda bad because I was trying to get across the road which has tons of traffic on it so I didn't even acknowledge them, lol.

BlackZeda 07-14-2012 10:55 PM

I picked up a bit to eat after playing golf today and parked way far off in the corner of the parking lot as I usually do. After getting my food, I walk out to see that a nice SUV had parked right next to me, which annoyed me just a bit. But as I am walking out there I see a couple of older women getting out and congregating around my Z like they were studying a painting at a museum. When I get to my car they were making nice comments and asked what a NISMO was. The guy (presumably one of the husbands of the ladies) in the SUV gave a compliment and said something along that lines that parking next to me ensured that he wouldn't have any door dings...and he gave me plenty of space which was cool. As I drove out of the parking lot one of the ladies just wanted to admire while in motion; I don't blame her :)

MJB 08-03-2012 02:58 PM

I went to go see Total Recall today. As I was coming out of the theater and getting in my Z, an older couple walked by and I heard the guy say to his wife, "a Porsche"??, and I'm not 100% sure but I believe her reply was, "no I think its a Bimmer".. Lol. I guess they couldn't read my blacked out hamburger with the word 'Nissan' on it, lol.

Oh by the way, the Arnold version was better :)

Thats funny. You just reminded me of something similar happened to me.

I was leaving this Mexican Restaurant here in Bakersfield with a friend of mine. He wanted to see my car. I parked away from everyone but behind me was a bus stop. As I was showing my friend my car, This black guy black guy comes up to me asking me if it was my car. I told him yes it is. He starts walking around it, saying "Yo man, you should get those doors that open up like a Lambo ya know!" He just kept circling the car asking me if it gets its speed on. Telling me to take care of it and then had to leave cause the bus was leaving. It was a little funny. He was a nice guy. He shook my hand before taking off too.. when he left he was telling his girl, " See, I told you it gets its speed on! "

awesome...

dmhenderson 08-11-2012 09:43 PM

Won best in class today at a (small) show. Really just wanted to drink and talk cars with people - had no expectations whatsoever. Lots of love at the show, then had to give an impromptu speech about nissan, the Zcar lineage and the GT-R/Skyline at a gas station on my way home to an audience of gas station employees and sketchy dudes wearing wifebeaters hanging around outside.

dmhenderson 08-11-2012 10:29 PM

Guy with a stillen exhaust and headers was also showing and I was not impressed. Really happy I went with FI.

chii370 08-20-2012 02:03 PM

when I had the 09 solid red nismo I can't even count how many times I was asked "what yearis your Porsche?"

so hopefully the new magma red on my 13 will put a stop to that insult lol

Gawl128 09-05-2012 07:55 AM

I've had mine a few weeks now, and it just breaks necks! Sometimes I'm at a four way stop sign - I'll wave another car through before me, and they won't move... they just want to keep looking at the car. You can kind of tell the expression... "WHAT IS THAT!"

Love this car.

Not for the attention, just because it really is special. :happydance:
