I don't know if this is the type of attention the OP is talking about, but today a couple of interesting things happened:
I was driving along south of Denver in the middle of nowhere and I see a Sheriff on-coming. I was going about 10 over and even before I pass him I see him pull to the shoulder readying to make an U-turn. I am thinking "you gotta be s***ting me...you guys are that desperate for cash"? Well after getting on my *** I barely slowed down until I got to a construction zone with workers present, then he turns on his lights and rushes past me pulling over a Dodge that was well in front of me. Douglas County Sheriff is alright in my book  While driving on I-25 in the fast lane going a steady 15 over I pass a souped-up lesbo-mobile (Subaru WRX) over two lanes to the right. Obviously they guy was a bit jealous of the sexiness of the NISMO so he started to rapidly accelerate to about 90 or so, then slow down a few times. Sorry dude, not in the least impressed with your ugly-*** sedan and your obnoxious external (panty)waste gates. What a retard...it is really worth it to get a ticket for going 25 (plus reckless driving) over to pretend that his car is anything special? I guess these are tales of non-attention and the wrong type of attention :) |

I guess to knowledgeable car enthusiasts, Porsche is very different from Nissan; However, to other less informed citizens, they don't know a Hyundai badge from a BMW one...

That still doesn't explain why the guy in the WRX wanted to drive like a jerk, risking a ticket or worse. He would slow down, then gun it up to 90+ until he was on the butt of people going normal highway speeds. Do you condone that behavior? If so what is the point? |

That being said is NOT the reason I sold my STi. |
Well at least the lesbians pick a pretty good car...buddy of mine got in a head-on collision in his '07 sti and crawled out the window 100% fine. Other driver was not in good shape. He gives me crap about my Nismo all the time!

Doesn't excuse his behavior, but insulting his car was uncalled for IMO. New owner of a nismo myself, I just want to avoid being perceived as stuck up, especially after seeing all these back and forth on "regular+sports vs Nismo". |

Also, I have an Audi S4 (really wanted AWD and 6MT, don't understand why this is so hard to find other than in a Subaru), so IMO my garage has the perfect mix of import and German! Plus, the Audi is amazingly quick and a blast to drive in the snow, definitely a sleeper to people that don't know what it is. I have not run into the German only "dicks" in my area. |
looks like this thread has gotten a lot more replies since I last checked. I see I am not the only one who gets noticed lol.
Lately I feel like the Z has not been getting as many looks and such, but I think I am just getting used to not noticing people anymore. My friend was in the car with me the other day and mentioned how he noticed how people keep looking at the car, so I guess I have really just stopped paying attention to see who is or isn't checking me out lol |
That person might get a kick out of it if you wave back when they're taking a pic...

I get the least attention in my Z out of three cars. Strangely my old '53 Chevy all beaten up and my 1966 XKE get far more attention. It actually bothered me for awhile. now when somebody says "nice car" outside my house.
I now just say thanks where I once asked "which car". |

I think I want to do a full Nismo conversion on my coupe. I love the Nismo kit.

Well, i see you've got a touring pkg, I suppose you want the nice interior as well, can't blame you, if they offered the nismo wiht the touring interior like they do in JP, I'd have gotten it. |

The large rear wing is an integral part of the Nismo's appearance.
|
I was actually just quoted 2,900$ for all the Nismo parts including bumpers, side skirts, and the spoiler all Oem parts straight from Nissan. Thing is its probably not painted and installation might be overkill price wise.
|
I too wish they offered the Touring options in the NISMO like in JP, but oh well. I am happy with the car as I have it customized!

iirc, isn't the oem nismo spoiler about as much by itself as the rest of the kit combined or something crazy like that? I know Z1 sells the conversion kit and it's a pretty penny. Oh, and that blue Z above looks good. |
Another thing to consider is that the Nismo is not offered in any colors except white, black, red, and silver. It'd be sweet to see one of the other colors with the Nismo parts. The Nismo is so unique already, in a touring or other color, it would really stand out. I just love that blue, always have.
