I was just throwing out the heavy hitters like the 5.0 and Vette because they have some really fast 1/4 times stock, and I know you are all about that. Buuuuuut, remember, with the Nismo having the extra 18hp, you could possibly shave off .5 sec to a regular Z's time
I know that they have 18 h.p. more. I also KNOW why they(Nismos) are NOT at the top of the list here & at the 350z forum. If you would want to know why, just ask ...

Let's put into the mix that I had STOCK intakes & base stock Nissan exhaust, minus cats.

All are welcome to use any tires they want. Get slicks, please.

Tell you a little secret. First day I used my slicks, I was so unhappy that I drove around the track trying to sell them. It took me over 9 months to learn how to use them.
Oh, I know. I'm just pointing out that it's hard to compare times on street tires vs. slicks.

On the other site they have guys with slicks. Some have quicker times, others slower. Many tried & they weren't for them, mostly cause times got worse not better. These are 6 cyl. N/A cars. Slicks aren't for everyone. I started with slicks only after I got into the 12.7's/12.8's...

A set of slicks cost $400 to $500 per set. Why do 370z owners spend many thousands on mods to go quick/fast and not get slicks? I suspect that in N/A class the 370's don't do well with slicks. More h.p. but maybe less tq.?????

Because the vast majority of Z owners aren't into drag racing. Slicks are only good at the track, while you can enjoy power on every on-ramp.

Also, your cost fails to include the pair of rear wheels you need for the slicks.

Why are you again derailing a thread and moving the discussion to track ?

This is NOT a track thread, and I would like it to stay that way.

IF you can't stay on topic? You're posting status here will change to moderated.

I can't stress this enough IF you want to discuss track setups and what not?

Do it in the Track Section where it belongs.

I'm just confused as others with the comparison of the Nismo to the base or sports models. I understand one comes with 18 more hp and other doesn't but with the money you save, you can be equal or even more hp than the Nismo. You can also do your tune, suspension, bodykit, etc and still possibly save money vs buying the Nismo. Can someone please explain it to me because I'm not seeing the reason to have a Nismo vs a sport model 370?

Especially if you or most Nismo owners decide to take everything they paid extra for off and replace it with aftermarket parts, what's the point of purchasing the Nismo? Is the tag on the back of the car?

So it doesn't make sense to you why we bought a Nismo huh? Well, some people wonder why buy a Z when you could get a car like the 5.0 for the same price, that could outperform the Z all day. Its called personal preference you moron.

Touchy touchy, it was just a general question. Was it something that drew you to it is mainly what I'm asking. Plus I wanted a car that you don't see too much on the road. I always see 5.0's, Camaro's, vettes, challengers, etc (muscle cars) and I didn't want to be like everyone else. I love the look of all 370Z's, nismo or not, just curious why buy a Nismo? It's not like buying a V6 mustang or Camaro, then I'd understand the 5.0 or SS...

No, don't play innocent, you posted the same stupid comment in another thread, and posted a quote from like 2 years ago bashing the Nismo. I just don't understand why ask why? Its personal preference plain and simple. Why do I have to explain that to somebody? Last time I checked, its my money and I don't have to answer to anybody about any purchases I make. Sorta like me asking you why you bought your wheels. I honestly think they are fugly... but you like them and who the hell am I to ask why you bought them?
Time to close this stupid thread.

That's real...lol different strokes for different folks. Real rap though, never heard someone say the wheels didn't match the car. Lol don't get in your feelings my dude. I like the look of your car, never really seen a ugly Z regardless of the cosmetic difference...but your good

Nope... no tag there. So that must not be it.

And it sounds like you get confused easily. The concept that people bought the Nismo for something other than just the 18 extra hp seems to elude you. The concept that you can actually sell your Nismo parts to non-Nismo owners for money seems to still escape you as well. Numbers also don't seem to be your friend. You also seem to have a great deal of trouble differentiating between your OPINION and FACT.

I would love to see how you would do a tune, suspension, body kit, rims/tires, exhaust and be cheaper than the Nismo.

Again, none of your "I bought my car USED for $27k" so I'm going to compare that price to the MSRP of the Nismo. As MJB said... don't try and come in here and play innocent. If you don't like the Nismo so much, why do you keep posting in the Nismo sub forum?
