What if i had a base model. Got the same exhaust, intake, tune.

And then the nismo got the same exhust, intake and tune. Would they produce the same numbers then or very similar?

Default Interesting thread-Learned alot

2013 & 2014 have fronts(lights)that I don't care for. My taste, everybody has theirs. 2012 is my best year to get(oil cooler). I am also looking at very low mileage 2011's(always can install an even better cooler).

Now I know that the Nismos, no matter what year, look the best, hottest & look fast just standing parked.

However, as a part time drag racer, I'd rather have a very quick Z than one that looks very quick. Beside 2012 Nismos, I'm also considering very low mileage 20011's & 12's base, base/sport. They can be bought at reasonable price this time of the year. With the money I would save, I can always tune it even better, & add a few mods that can put my Z into the 320=340 rear H.P. levels. I know several shops & seen the results. Of course it depended much of what dyno & how the shop sets it up They CAN make a car look better Anyway with that + gears & tires(slicks) I think I'll be much quicker than any N/A Nismo I know. So?????? Maybe next week That's all the time I have right now....

Anyone,
Has any new info come out for the 2015/new z ??????

So if you add those parts to a Nismo Z you wouldn't get the same results? Or is there some bylaw that says if you buy a Nismo you can't upgrade it?

Ok, let me explain. The avg. 2012 low mileage 100 miles to 12,000 miles Nismo costs $30k to $35k.
The avg. base or bas/sport of the same^^^^^^can be had from $24k to $26k.

So if I got test tubes, 4:08 gears, an Osires uprev tune, I would have a much quicker Z than a Nismo and apx. $5k in my pocket, or money to spend on other fun things. Sure you can do that to a Nismo.

All options open. With luck or I'll say without bad luck showing up, I should be buying a 370z next week

Oh yeah I forgot, us Nismo owners spent the extra money because we knew the extra 18hp was going to destroy a regular stock Z in a straight line .

Dude, since you are so high and mighty on drag racing... don't you think there are way better platforms out there for it? I mean if you are content to low 13 sec 1/4 miles, have at it. I would rather buy a 5.0 or something like that which is in the same price range if not cheaper than a Z and is mid 12 sec stock. A low mileage C5 Z06 can be bought for mid to high 20k, and would blow the doors off a Z, Nismo or not.

I don't know why & what problem you have with me considering my options. I didn't say anything bad against a Nismo. I'm still looking at my options.

As far as drag racing, if I get those other muscle cars I would just get lost. Being with a group of ricers, perhaps like yourself, I & my low to mid twelve second times with only a few mods can really stand out & be noticed. Why get into a group of people that know how to drive as good or better than I?????

First off, I have no problem with your decisions... I'm just wondering why if your sole purpose in life is to drag race your car, why not buy a way better platform for it. Second, I am not a ricer, lol. Third, a mustang, or Vette is not a muscle car, they are sports cars just like the Z. Ok, I think by now everybody in the entire world knows your were able to hit mid 12's with your 350z... since you kind of mention it in 90% of your posts. I just said low 13s because that is the average times for a full bolt on 370 with a good driver. Plus I think you said you wanted AT so the Nismo is completely out of the picture anyways. Good luck whatever you decide.

yes most likely... within a few hp... but you are gonna spend a chuck to do so
and assuming you have a shop who can tune it for you

Well, the motor is the same. So if the intake, exhaust and tune are the same, output will be the same, or so close the difference can be written off as dyno variance.

Default I'm considering a Nismo, so I'm NOT anti Nismo

As far as the tune, the H.P. gain is at the engine, not at the wheels. I THINK a Osires uprev tune can add more H.P. than that factory one. When mods like test pipes or exhaust or just about any mod is added, the Osires tune woulds make even more sense. With a custom tune you can also have your redline raised.
