HBO Renews ‘Game of Thrones’ For Season 3

"While the second season will cover the majority of the novel “A Clash of Kings”, the next in the series, “A Storm of Swords,” is too large to be adapted into a single 10-episode season. With the intent to split the books across Game of Thrones season 3 and 4, series creators Benioff and Weiss are attempting to figure out the best way to present George R. R. Martin’s goliath novels to television audiences."

If you like the show you will really enjoy the books. I have read up to A Dance With Dragons after the last episode of season 2. I would have finished ADWD except I decided to slow down because I realized I would be going into GOT withdrawl.

How many books are there? I remember reading somewhere that they may possibly be planning on up to 20 years of GOT if they're able to? Holy eff.

7 in total will be released, 5 have been released thus far.

This kinda makes me think of the sword of truth books, which is another AMAZING story btw. I wish they would do a movie deal off of that series. There's 12 books now I think, and they're all like 600-700 pages.

They had a tv series, The seeker of truth. It got two seasons, it needed to be on hbo or something and it would have been alot better. It wasn't bad, had a very zena feel to it. As they would have a new problem pop up and get resolved each ep.

Friendly correction. Show was "Legend of the Seeker" and its available on netflix

disappointing when they cancelled legend of the seeker. as a fan of the books i enjoyed the show, but it may have been different if i never read the books.

doesn't hold a candle to game of thrones tho

I saw the series and while I liked it, I loved the books do much that it was kind of a let down seeing the show. It was nothing at all like what I had pictured, and they just didn't have the budget needed to make it epic on GOT proportions.
Although the chick that played Cara was fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnn nnneeeeee as hell. She can torture me all day long.

Valyrian Steel

so i finished up season 1:rock: i have not read the books yet. thought it started a little slow but damn now i want more:excited:

season 2 brings on plenty more to see ;)

GRAWWWW, spoiler concerns book 3 storm of swords, and maybe some book 4.

I'm reading A Feast For Crows now. 800 pages in, highly disappointed.
I loved A Storm of Swords though - favorite book of the series so far.

I think "A Feast for Crows" was the slowest book out of all of them, where there isn't a whole lot happening. I think it has a lot to do with GRRM splitting the manuscipt because it had gotten so big. It makes a bit more sense after reading A Dance with Dragons, which runs parallel to "A Feast for Crows" to a point.

At th rate I'm reading, I'll probably have ADWD completed in 2 weeks.

Game of Thrones is VERY POPULAR big-budget work to have contributed to the popularity of the fantasy genre in MEDIA SERIES. It has become the most watched original series on HBO since The Sopranos. ANS SO FAR I REALLY ENJOYED THIS SERIES

After the second season ended I read the first four books in about five weeks. I decided to slow down on DWD so as to savor it. The third season of the show will give me my GOT fix for sure!
