Well......

being I used to work for a powder coater...... There are countless color options. There should be another product close to what you want. I have never heard of a color that was not a viable option. Usually, what you see is a bad batch of powder or a flaw in the process. There may be another supplier out there that has your color in a different brand. I'm just saying it's probably a viable option, but they are probably having problems with a supplier or don't want to spend the money to buy a new batch of that color for you.

On yeah, i've been furiously IM-ing with the vendor all afternoon.

UPDATE: The color "textured red" is not available for Forgestar wheels. Only a fire-engine red is avail... yuck. HOWEVER, i spoke with the Manufacturer via the Vendor... and found that the candy red color above IS available.

So the new wheel color is called: Blood Red

I'm okay w this... about 2 more weeks they say....

Not sure I'd want a forged wheel heated, bead blasted and then reheated. Maybe Meulen can chime in

I don't believe the monoblock F14s are forged.. Only the three piece I believe.

Forgestar calls it Flow Forming, but def NOT forged.

I can see why some people would be nervous. I'm not an expert on steel so this may be a better question for the wheel manufacter. What I do know is forging is a heating process that takes steel to 2000+ degrees. This is just before the steels melting point and the metal is able to shaped. There's something about the carbon in the steel at that temp that creates a chemical reaction hardening the steel. I believe, heating it up again after that chemical reaction takes place may distort the metal. However, the powdercoating process is only heated to around 400 degrees. I don't believe that would be near enough to worry about distorting the metal. It's significantly below it's melting point. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If you think about, forged rods and pistons probably are subject to more heat in their own use.

I was thinking more in terms of forged aluminum. Not sure I've seen forged steel wheels.

Yeah, same deal if they are aluminum forged. It's worth a call to the wheel mfg. they'll know what aluminum alloy was used and what heat tolerance they can take.

Captain's Log, star-date 03.21.14

Wheels have passed Quality Control and have been shipped. Thank all that is holy that i am finally getting these wheels.

They should be here: 3/26/14.
- And no, not delivered to my front door.

I ordered them on Black Friday, which puts this order at 4 months.
- Was it worth the wait? ...damn straight.

Forgestar F14 - Blood Red
  • Front: 19x9.5
  • Rear: 19x11 (super deep concave)

Any suggestions for me with regards to dealing with Forgestar? I'm in the 18th week and still awaiting on my wheels. I've been given multiple delivery dates. As of last Friday, the vendor told me they just got the front cores in and they would try to have them ready ASAP... However, no dates were given.... Like you, I'm certainly beyond frustrated at this point.
