Well I don't drink, but I can bring some soda or some snacks. Ditto on this being on a weekend. We should probably start sometime in the morning just in case it takes a lot longer than we expect (which is usually the case with DIY mods). :p

Im down for this for sure, im sure we can lay the bumpers on the grass right? That shouldnt scratch them, you'd think.

I'm just basing this on the number of people who have already confirmed. Maybe you can keep a list in the OP?

Khoi, I know you are going to be there, but are you doing your headlights as well or just helping us out?

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 05:34 PM

Whos technically the expert in doing this, (taking off the bumper, and have actually done this mod before?)

Yeah that would be fine, but I'm not sure how much grass area there will be wherever we are doing this. Shouldn't be an issue, but we should think about it for whatever location we will be using.

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 05:44 PM

Yeah I haven't done any of these things. I've seen it with the bumper off when the intake went in but that was the day I bought it.

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 05:46 PM

You could also bring a big blanket to lay your bumper on that..just a thought. Dude, IM excited, I've always wanted to this mod. Blades, post up the paint that we need to buy..

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 05:49 PM

From the little bit that I know of this mod, you gotta have a blow dryer, a silicone sealant, a butter knife to pry the headlight open, the oven to heat up the original sealant, and I think thats it..

This is the one recommended in the DIY

What do you need the blow dryer for if you're gonna use an oven to heat the sealant?

Gonna check if they have the paint at Walmart the next time I go there. That's probably the cheapest place to get it.

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 05:51 PM

Assuming we all don't need to bring paint right? Someone should bring a couple cans of paint and the sealant or w/e and they don't bring booze/soda or whatever.

It's like a potluck only less lame.

We need to figure out how many cans will be needed per set and how many sets we will be doing.

I'll also throw in the idea of ordering some pizzas for lunch

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 05:55 PM

You need the blow dryer to dry the new sealant once its applied. From the little bit that I know of this mod, you use the oven to break the seal of the original sealant, and the blow dryer for the new sealant, theres a reason why? I dont know it though...trust me, I dont claim to be the expert, but I have looked into it thoroughly.

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 05:55 PM

Pizza or Bufffalo Wild Wings is an EXCELLENT idea... trollollllollllolol

MyKindaGuise 08-08-2012 05:56 PM

I think aiming for september would be great for planning. Also...didn't think of having to store bumpers and having jacks and stands for everyone's car and space for that. Anyone else have a location? Plan for 10 8-10 cars as we already have 6 after one days worth of posts.

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 06:03 PM

Well you could always just cut it off after 10 people or whatever. I don't have enough room to host or I would.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, not trying to troll you here. I looked over the DIY by simota earlier today and didn't see any mention of a blow dryer, which is why I was curious.

I don't think we'll need jack stands. We just need to get the car jacked up to have access to the undertray to be able to take the bumper off. Once we get those bolts off from underneath, we can set the car back down and drive it around with no problem. Actually you might be able to reach the bolts without jacking the car up as long as you're at stock height. I can't do it on mine since my car is lowered.

MyKindaGuise 08-08-2012 06:03 PM

You guys are posting too fast for me to be replying from my cellular haha.

Pizza and wings sounds amazing.
I'm gonna bring blue paint for my lights. Not decided on the black yet. I also am bringing mesh and plasti dip to mod the front bumper.

b1adesofcha0s 08-08-2012 06:05 PM

I'm thinking about whether I should use this opportunity to paint my wheels since it looks like we'll be there for a while anyways. :icon17:

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 06:05 PM

In all seriousness, you folk are welcome at my house. I have the jack and the 4 jack stands. I do live very close to College Park though.

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 06:09 PM

And you have Buffalo Wild Wings right off the Beltway, and Pizza shops in College Park.

That's all very true. Once we get the bumper off we can put the next car up. I am lowered about 1.5" in the front so I'm in the same boat.

OP once we get this together please update the main post. We need to post who is attending as well as a list of all materials.

College as in college hunnies? I'm sure they would appreciate our sexy sports cars (:

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 06:24 PM

We have a buffalo wings and beer near here that has pretty awesome wings plus there's a hooters in rockville.

I can either bring a fuckton of wings or booze. Either/or

I was serious about the potluck thing. A sign-up works best so people don't duplicate.

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 06:30 PM

Also quick question re: legality. I know the Z's headlights are ridiculously bright to begin with (I get people flashing their hi-beams at me all the time) but is this mod legal? I run around without a front plate so not trying to give anyone another reason to mess with me.

I think the potluck thing is a good idea but some of us are going to use different items depending on the mod. So as long as we negotiate on the items I'm down.

Not gonna lie I'm pretty pumped for this. There aren't many Zs in pa for me to meet up with.

Also you really get that much hate for your lights? I haven't noticed any of that up my way. That's really dumb

This mod is NOT illegal, you're not doing anything to the light itself, your only painting trim pieces, which has ZERO effect on the light output.

Pretty sure I was banned from Bentley's about 12 years ago but I'm gonna have to assume they won't remember. I know the 'Fe closed down but is Cornerstone still there? Used to love that joint.

If we all do this the before/after pictures are going to own hard.

Yeah but it's mostly on backroads with no street lights because people don't seem to understand the concept that their pupils dialate in the dark. City driving, never.

Let's go for 3 posts in a row. Yeah just looked at the DIY forum and holy crap this is going to look amazing on my black car.

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 07:20 PM

Dude, its gonna look really really good, and yes Cornerstones is still there.. Soo fellas, my house is available, if you wanna do it here, we'll make it work. Let me know.

MyKindaGuise 08-08-2012 07:20 PM

Yeah dude this mod is going to be really kickass. I gotta say you MA folks really get organized quickly. IRS been 4 months since we did anything up here in scpa. This might just be the push that makes me go to MA meets haha. Anyways eastwest how far away from 17111 are you brother? I need an idea of what I can expect to travel

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 07:22 PM

Google wherever you are to, 6319 57th Ave, Riverdale MD

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 07:26 PM

Hey while we're talking about things and stuff. Is it possible to plastidip the door handles so that they're black?
I really hate the brushed chrome door handles. Ruins the side profile of the car.

Edit: My concern is that the door handles are a place you're constantly touching so I'm afraid it'll wear/rub off.

Edit: Riverdale? Oh hey that's right off Kennelworth I know right where that is.

eastwest2300 08-08-2012 07:36 PM

I think Blades has done this, Im not sure if hes happy with it or not.

dmhenderson 08-08-2012 07:59 PM

Just made the down payment on my exhaust. FI CBE with 18" resonators and non-resonated HFCs (want that bitch to scream).
