Yes I do. And I could have bought my car and paid to have everything done. But With everything with my car - I like to mess around with it myself, see what the possibilities are and learn. That's what makes my car hobby fun.

I've been playing Witcher 3 and boxing up the OEM parts for shipping... I've never used Greyhound Express before... it's in Norfolk.

Adrian, I didn't know UpRev had problems with your year... I thought it was only with 2015, and UpRev figured it out. I would recommend calling or emailing them. BTW, there are a few UpRev cable/license for sale in the forums. Good prices for the tuner version. It would save you at least $200. If you have the same mods I can send you my maps once they finish making adjustments.

I am happy with an e-tune if it is just simple bolt-ons. 3-5 whp does not justify spending the extra time and money IMO. In addition, if I needed something I cannot drive to the shop for them to fix it. I think the closest shop that tune with UpRev is about 3 1/2 hours away.

Voice59 06-14-2015 12:42 PM

A legit Dyno tune could net you 15-20hp depending on a variety of factors. Also will improve your gas mileage significantly if done right. I had a tuner with only base maps on my old civic si and I used to get whooped up on by people that had a legit dyno tune done. I regretted never getting one, so I insisted on doing it right with the Z.

GOOD NEWS. Had a second opinion done for the roof, he says it doesn't look bad at all, and I have plenty of life left in it.

That being said, I'll have to save some for the inevitable and a little vacation when I get back...so I'll probably just be getting the motordyne CBE when I get home. Eventually intake and exhaust too. And sways.

So if anyone has a used motordyne around 4th quarter this year , I'll be happy to take it off your hands :)

Moore Automotive in Fairfax. They did a great job and were super friendly. Cost me about $650 but he said if I ever need a retune it'll be $150.

Excuse me "throttle lag"

The whole tuning section is a war between uprev and ecutek, the fact that uprev maps didnt address the throttle response/lag...

Thats just what ive read

Also i know for a fact my own Z has that lag. Takes a few mili seconds to actually catch on when flooring it, or even not flooring it... Still takes a min to get up

They just recently put out an update with launch control, VVEL timing, closed loop stuff, and plenty more. Its in the ecutek thread somewhere on here.

The throttle lag is just a characteristic of electronic throttle control cars. Ive heard of dudes having better response with either uprev or ecutek though.

Mike, you might look into ecutek since you track the most out of all of us. Several members have seen 20whp gains over uprev, one guy even had +100ftlbs of torque (he was FI though, if im not mistaken).

Darketch 06-18-2015 08:15 PM

I can't go but it's C&C weekend!

I don't really notice it if there is any lag there. It's not the same as a throttle cable car that's for sure, but I'm just used to it I guess.

Justin are you talking base maps? Or actual custom tunes that people have gotten done? I had a professional tuner dyno tune my car so I don't' know if another software would necessarily would change how much power the car made. It would depend on if ecutek has more variables that you could change.

I'm not going to go back and have my car retuned though, that was a significant amount of money that I don't want to spend again lol.

Basically, they differ like this:

UpRev modifies your maps...but doesn't replace them. Meaning that the UpRev maps are more of a "suggestion", and basically lets the car decide. From what I have read, UpRev doesn't do anything for VVEL timing either.

Ecutek changes your base map completely, there is no choice for the car to make. Also, ecutek maps have complete control over your VVEL timing.

Its been a minute since I read up on this, so you might wanna fact check me or ask more people, but im fairly confident about that. I am 100% confident that people who have had UpRev have had gains going to ecutek, its all I ever read about when people go from one to another. But I don't blame you for not wanting to blow more cash on it, I just cant wait to pay this car off so I can start modding the **** out of it lol.

I hate to beat a dead horse but can someone explain this "Throttle Lag" to me

When i mash that acceleration, and it takes a good 2/3 seconds before it takes off

Kazzan11236 06-19-2015 03:48 PM

Its as if it has to rev an extra 3000 before it actually kicks in

Voice59 06-19-2015 05:09 PM

Yeah when you try to mash the accelerater you'll notice that you don't launch immediately it "lags" then kicks in a half second to a second later...
