Was going to powder coat my stock wheels black but a few friends have convinced me to do plastidip with a glossifier so that the wheels have the potential to be sold later. Thoughts? Lol

Plastidip is good option if you don't want to make a permanent change. Like anything it really depends on how well the plastidip is applied. The only down side I can think of is it might not hold up well to heat. Read a few reviews saying that plastidip can come off when the rim gets hot like at a track day. For street use plastidip should hold up just fine.

Power coated rims could be sold or traded if needed to go back to stock. Also there are people selling powder coated rims too. You could get a set and keep your original wheels for the winter or for just in case.

Or you can wait, save up, and get some nice after market rims later.

Really comes down to how much you are willing to spend.

Let me know when you want to borrow it.

Was going to work today, walked up to my Z - there were 4-5 guys in their early 20s taking pictures of it while sitting on the hood. You best believe I freaked out and yelled at them to get off my car! People are disgusting. Luckily they didn't scratch it, but I don't feel safe not having my car garaged in trashy ol' Hampton. >:(

At least they didn't damage your Z.

Can't say the same for mine.

Found this after that Tide's game I went to the other week.

It's on the driver side rear fender.
My bet is some one dragged a bag or purse across it. :shakes head:
Good thing I'm planning on wrapping my car next year.

I took my Z to Hall Nissan and I could hear my engine being revved from inside the building. Now it seems like the bypass valve doesn't completely close anymore, or there's some kind of small leak. Might be my imagination. IF I ever go back I'm putting it on valet maps. Sad that I even have to do that.

I'm really sorry to hear you are experiencing something like that. I will say I work there and recognized your car and put you with the service technician that I trust the most out of anyone. He has been doing the work on my Z and he took a strong appreciation to your vehicle because of all the work you have put into it. I also kept a close eye on it because of the fact that I recognized it. I am not a service writer and am only hourly so I have nothing to gain but I'm just letting you know I made sure it went to someone who I trust with my own car.

Voice59 09-02-2015 06:33 PM

It's cool. I was told it was being handled by a master tech. I'm no expert by any means but I don't think it needs to be revved to 5-6k for an oil change. The bypass valve or leak I'm noticing may be an unrelated issue that came about around the same time. Either way... Valet maps no matter where I take it from now on.

Yeah I understand completely! I only trust very few with my car and he is my favorite, by far. I had him look at my Z before I bought it because I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting screwed over in the deal. I will only let certain guys in detail even wash my car. I am that protective so I figure we all have that mentality lol

gulfcoastgrl 09-02-2015 06:49 PM

I do also know our walls are so thin between the shop and the lounge. People often hear the techs talking inside but yeah I definitely dont blame you for being protective which is why I do everything within my power to make sure any of you guys are taken care of. I need a promotion though lol I do too much and make far too little

I think its just the shock that aftermartket mod ppl come thru the stealerships.

Back when i had my maxima i used to always take it to boney road
I had a borla cbe with k&n intake and stillen pulley and timing mod...

And they have that window u can see thru, and everytime it was drove in they always gave it a rev or two so the techs can see and gasp and awe... After that work gets done...

It happens...

Voice59 09-03-2015 02:47 PM

Yeah a rev or two... Understandable. Dude I could hear it being revved to like 6k multiple times. Now it's acting up.... Like I mentioned before, could be an unrelated event, but the timing is impeccable.

Voice59 09-03-2015 03:23 PM

Just a heads up...the work they did was fine. Just a tad bit more professionalism would be appreciated.

your right a rev or two.. But with the supercharger, ur mods... Ur a different case... Thats the type of vehicle they not even supposed to touch... And really i dont blame u for never going there

Any vehicle, once it surpasses a certain mod state... Ex:5/10grand and up, no "company" man should be touching it...

The time i do get a supercharger, i will have to find a one on one mechanic who can service all my vehicle needs

yup... that's now my plan.

Darketch 09-03-2015 08:56 PM

I haven't been there since I sold my last Z, but I only go to Ron Watson. Never heard my car rev'd or scratched. To bad those folks did ya like that. Treatment like that is almost a boycott situation for folks on the forum. The seed of doubt. I would certainly let the service manage know. In the past Hall is the only Nissan dealership that Z's from all around go to....even when there are closer options. Very bad news indeed.

gulfcoastgrl 09-03-2015 09:21 PM

We do have GTRs and cars with lots of aftermarket stuff done to them that are only allowed to be handled by 2 techs. The one who did your oil change was 1 of those 2. I will definitely talk to him though as I actually just got promoted. I will now be in charge of any oil changes that come through as an express service advisor. Didn't know they were even considering me but anyways at the same time I know how you feel. I don't want to come off as sticking up solely for my dealership because it is not my intention here. I will say I tend to watch over the work being done to my car still though...force of habit. We can bring back customers as long as they are escorted to observe the work being done. You can also request that they do not rev the engine at all and we can put that note on the ticket. If you do decide to come back ever. Also if you do I will take care of you. Got my word on that. I take care of my own just like with this situation. I'm divided because it involves both sides and it sucks. You also can bring it in at anytime and we can get with the boss man if you wanted to at any point. Just an option to see what he can do. I do have some of my own bad news though..previous owner beat the clutch to hell in my Z so guess where it is :( I want to punch someone in the face. Only had it for 2 months! Looking back they replaced it at 20K before already! I mean wtf!?

Yeah I always go above and beyond but yet hated my position. I was basically a glorified receptionist most times haha as a service assistant. The advisor job opened up 3 weeks ago and I just found out today after hearing they were going to give it to someone. I'm more concerned about my girl than my promotion though. I think my boss told me today to lift my spirits but really..I just want my Z fixed. Glad once it is that the clutch will be my baby. I will know how it has been handled from the start.

Joe at z speed for your clutch issues... And possibly flywheel upgrade while you're in there. Congrats on your promotion. I'm sure the revving had nothing to do with what ever is going on with the car, as I don't drive it light by any means.

I did talk to my guy though..he said it was revved but definitely not to anything that high. He was trying to figure out what exactly your car had going on as far as all you have done to it so that he knew what he was working on. As for my car I had my guys look at it and it is definitely the slave cylinder causing the clutch to go. So it's all covered under warranty! Will have it done by next Monday at the latest :) Oh and thanks for the congrats.

Is your slave cylinder being covered under the powertrain warranty?

I didn't ask questions after I was told it was covered. I just asked which company and Nissan is covering it so either that or the fact that when they replaced the clutch under warranty at 20K theh didn't touch the slave cylinder which they should have. I've only put 1000 miles on my car so I am extremely happy!

No point in putting another faulty csc back in. OEM slave cylinder is doodoo butter. But then again if it's free... I guess?

The Nissan service manual actually says to replace the CSC every time the transmission is pulled because dust can slip past the seal when the transmission is pulled back. The CSC on my Z was replaced under warranty by the previous owner at 16k miles. I bled my clutch out last month at 30k miles and there was some dust in the fluid. I plan to bleed it out at least every year for now on.

Voice59, what clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder are you running?

If or when I have to replace my clutch I think I'm going to ditch the dual mass flywheel for a slightly lighter steel billet flywheel, Zspeed's CSC, and a stock or stage 1 pressure plate and disk. I was curious as to what clutch you needed with all the torque your Z is making.

Daughter is still doing gymnastics 25 hours a week but she won't be going to the Olympics without buying a ticket to get in. She does do some superhero like stuff though.
