I did a lot of research tonight... and I finally know what to do with my stock Navi. I need to purchase a Navtool and a mirrorcast wifi device. I may have to put my headlight on hold until I sell my Zele carbon fiber front lip (extra). So the Navtool will allow me to use my backup cam (automatically comes on when it is in reverse) without partially having my ebrake on, pressing the aux button, and the mirrorcast will allow a mirror image of my smart phone. Here's an example on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Kc9CUxMqU. Compared to upgrading the Navigation for $225 at the dealership and buying a bypass kit for $180.

bkngo 12-07-2015 08:38 PM

also, I found a blind spot sensor for about $120 that I want to buy and install later... since our cars our so bad especially at night... I got spoiled driving a rental car with all of these features...

The lip that holds the axle stub clip is too shallow. So it can just slip off... I ordered it a while back and don't have the receipt...so hopefully they can acknowledge that it is in fact their fault and just send another one or I'm gonna have a loooooot of digging to do to find some record of me purchasing it within the warrantee period.

That sucks. Good luck!

Were you hoping to use the factory touch screen to operate the mirrorcast or does the mirrorcast use the phone for the control interface? Also how are you planning on doing sound? I ask this because I looked into Navtool awhile back. If I remember right Navtool only does video.

Would you be interested in deleting the factory Navi? I’m fed up with the factory nav system too and really want Apple Carplay in my Z (specifically I want to run an Alpine iLX-007 Alpine-USA.com iLX-007) so I also have been doing a lot of research.

I recently down loaded the service manual for the 2009 370Z and have figured out how to delete the factory nav. It’s all theory at this point because I'm out of country and cannot test it on my Z. Every one says it can't be done but I think they are wrong. It is definitely not a plug and play mod. It will require a custom made wire harness, adding pins to a connector, building a connector, buying the non-nav A/C vent controls (eBay) and a complete deletion of the whole stereo system except the wiring harness. This means you would have to do a complete aftermarket stereo install, wires, power, head unit, speakers, everything. If you are worried about making permanent changes, my plan will retain the ability to put the stock system back in. If you are interested I can do a write up and send it to you. Let me know.

If we pick up a cutting attachment for the dremel we can cut the plastic signal cone likes Kai's headlights from 180 and epoxy it to the 70mm halo then wire it to the soldering points I made last time.

I plan on doing a couple of things to my car next weekend. I need to finish my backup cam install, (need to buy the bypass kit) install dual halos (need to order 70mm led halos), and possibly plastic dip my wheels/handle in satin black (pick up a few cans). Let me know if you are down bro.

Yea i have the regular halos for the headlight like last time i bought. Whats the size for the turn signals? Ill buy two sets.. One for the practice headlights then a set for my turn signals

And im fine going half on the dremel. Ill check my schedule to see what sunday im off.

I was thinking thou of wiring both halo sets to the LED lights like vabam has...

I also bought the "always on kit" for the bottom leds from ijdmtoy, so i wanna do that also

Wish vabam was here cuz he wired his to his LED daytime running lights, which is what i want to do

Right now I manually turn my lights on and off. My lights are wired to a switch in my center consol and are tapping power off a constant on source. Had to run wire all the way from my center consol to both headlights. Been meaning to wire in a relay to the hand brake so that when the hand brake is disengaged the halos and rear “fog light” turn on. Or put the relay on the ignition circuit so that when the car is on the lights are on.

See i want the halos wired to the leds cuz 1... If u just turn on the car the leds dont come on... (Like if im sitting there at night and dont wanna be seen)

However as soon as u move the car out of park the LEDs come on and i love that. If i can have that same thing with the halos but they stay on when the headlights on that would be perfect

I am keeping my Navi. the mirror cast uses the phone interface not the Navi. I also found a UK 370z forums and one of the admin makes a bypass kit. I will buy the wireless mirrorcast with audio/video.

There is a guy that got rid of his factory navigation. It's in the interior modification section. All you need is the base model a/c vent controls and chubby. Your light will still work...

the turn signal should be 70mm. I can tap the halos to the drl... we just need more wire. I got to look at the "always on kit"...

Already have the controls but I do not plan on getting the cubby. Since that Alpine iLX-007 is mechless and only 3 inches deep I plan on putting it were the nav factory screen goes. Found that tread you were talking about. Since its only 5 days old I didn't see it. Thanks for pointing it out! The area where the radio would normally go I plan on mounting my Racelogic and EDFC controllers there. They are a little in the way with the factory Nav.

About 1k, I've looked at that too. I really might just go for that, since I'm very attached to my Z

Posted this in the Mid-Atlantic Section like a year ago. :(

Finally a bought the tires a year later after my original post.

I'm looking for a Tire Shop that is not going to screw up my rims.....

European Cars in Williamsburg have the equipment to do it. They told me that they have the touch less tire changing machine, however since my car is not European they cannot work on the car.

And they are like 10 minutes from my house....

What a bunch of azzholes!!!!!!!! Screw them !!!

I live in Williamsburg so don't have the time to go across the river...plus my state inspection is expired.

Any other Shop than the one mentioned by VABAM in Newport News or Hampton?

Thanks!

the average is $2200... I checked a few months ago when I was deciding on painting my Zele kit or wrapping the entire car... painting was about $2300 for the front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts... (plus they had to make a few brackets).

I used Merchant's tire because they had a roll on alignment machine because every other place did not want to risk bottoming out my carbon fiber front lip. (I recently got my oil changed and cleared the ramp)

Probably a haul for you coming from Williamsburg, but I get all my tire work done at:

Professional Rim Shop
929 Ventures Way
Chesapeake, VA 23320
Phone: (757) 577-3348

I had to change out a tire last year and took my tire around to all the places here. No one could do it except these folks - even Merchants didn't seem comfortable at the time.

At any of these places, do a joint inspection of your rim with the manager. Once Pro Rim Shop lightly scratched the inside of my rim taking a weight off and they painted the inside of my rim for free. Looks awesome.

Their balance is good for high speed racing that onelownismo and VABAM do.

I actually get all my tire and alignments done there for all my cars.

Good Luck!

Yep. For my summer tires I'm running Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08Rs and for winter/storage Continental ExtremeContact DWS.

Voice59 12-17-2015 10:33 AM

Estimate on tread life?

VABAM 12-17-2015 11:59 AM

The AD08Rs are what I drive on the most. The treadwear rating on those is 180 which is about 13k miles. I haven’t worn out a pair of rears yet because of having to replace them due to damage. Now the fronts lasted about 12k but I had to replace them early too due to a slightly unbalanced wheel putting excessive wear on one. That 12k also included a few track days and multiple ZDayZ trips. I figured I can get 15k+ out of them if I actually wear them out instead having to replace them due to damage.

The ExtremeContact DWS’s barely get used so I can’t give you an accurate estimation on tire life.

Voice59 12-17-2015 02:51 PM

Got it. Got the car back...feels so weird to drive now. Guess this is what ACTUALLY having an ATB LSD is like.

Did take a few days for me to get used to the Quaife but now I can't imagine not having it. You’ll notice it a lot in the turns. It will feel like you have all wheel steering. You might find that you’ll need to soften up the rear suspension if you have issues with over steer. When mine was installed we had to put the rear sway on its softest setting.

PapoZalsa 12-18-2015 09:26 PM

Founded a Shop in Williamsburg that changed my tires without any damage to the rims, Auto Haus of Williamsburg. They did a nice job and great customer service. My Z was probably the cheapest car in the Service Shop.

Voice59 12-18-2015 11:24 PM
