Wish I could, reserved parking spots, I have to park in my designated spot :(

hazzazi 03-06-2012 09:24 AM

hey guys, i have a question... if i changed my license to say california, or NY... would my points transfer along with it, and if i get caught here would i still get points on my license?... obviously i'm asking cuz i just got a ticket, and i alrdy got loads of points on my license.

any input would be appreciate it.

thank you.

m4a1mustang 03-06-2012 09:28 AM

I don't think you can just transfer your license without being a resident. And whether the points would transfer or not depends on if VA shares that info with them.

Cristobal09 03-06-2012 09:29 AM

Yes, your points follow you wherever you go. My wife had 2 negavtive points from NY to va, and they stuck.

Time to slow down :happydance:

You CAN, just say you live at a certain address. Just have the person who lives there send you all DMV related materials to your other address. Would I recommend doing this? No. Thanks to these guys on here, they turned me honest lol.

Red__Zed 03-06-2012 09:36 AM

Va has deals with both ny and Cali....

Hoonigans.

Keep it at the track, kiddies.

That said, I try to do very calculated hooning, where I know I'm safe (IE, in a valley between 2 hills where I can see no cop is gunning, I may do a quick pull, but I'm slowed down before I crest the top of the 2nd hill). Pardon me for being blunt, but getting a speeding ticket when just cruising along is just dumb. Caveat: if everyone's doing 75 on 295, and he singles you out? Thats BS.

honestly with the viper, cops are much easier with you.. i got caught twice, and both times let me go.. but with the Z, they never do!...

they just like the viper.

No, getting pulled over going 3mph over the speed limit is dumb.....and getting a ticket on top of it.

I completely agree, it is - but you can go to court and easily argue yourself out of that one. So, you're dumb if you dont go and fight a 3-over ticket lol.

Also, its dumb on the part of the cop to even CONSIDER issuing a 3-over, since it'd be so easy to argue out of.

Not surprising. The 1 time I got pulled over for speeding in my old Camaro (cammed with a big lope, and a completely open exhaust), the cop just wanted to talk shop, and let me off.

That said, if he wanted to, he had me dead to rights for an easy ticket (accelerated to pass someone on the right, in order to get onto an off-ramp), but he was cool.

Yea, when I got that ticket awhile back in Ohio for 80 in a 70 zone, I didn't get any points because of Ohio law :) so they never bothered telling VA and I nvr got an insurance premium increase.

Definitely, youd be an idiot to not fight that one.....but when you live 8 hours away (this was in Grand Island btw) that makes it difficult. I tried to adjust the court date to accomodate me so im up there seeing the inlaws but they woudlnt budge, so I had to take the hit. son of a b!tch.

Cliffs?

And there's a LOT of context that goes into arguing tickets. In my case, my record is clean. I can easily walk in and show my clean record as reference, not to mention note the variations in speedometers and tire wear can slightly alter a speedo's readout. If it wasnt bumped down to a non-moving at MINIMUM, I'd be shocked.

But if your *** has a bunch of tickets already, you may not get shit.

Yeah I know, I remember this situation now. You were hosed off the get-go, and that sucks. But, lets go off the assumption that you HAVE the ability to argue it... lol

Clean record, 63 in a 60. Downhill, on a motorcycle, with a passenger.

Ticket stuck.

I wish I could say I was shocked. My sister went to UVA as well and one of her roommates got a ticket for 3mph over as well in Greene county. Since I heard that story, I set the CC for 3 UNDER the limit going through there

m4a1mustang 03-06-2012 11:51 AM

I was always uber careful around cville because of all the horror stories I heard about bogus tickets for as little as 1 over.

I'm always careful down around Richmond. They always seem like they are out to get everyone.

I would be too. I'm not one to hold a grudge, but if an officer gave me a ticket for 3 over I'd be mad about it too!
