Po-tay-toh, po-tah-toh.... same difference. :p

Especially after getting creamed by a 3600lb car. :bowrofl:

sig11 01-04-2012 01:11 PM

This year I'm going to take it for a sober drive up to the dam. ;) It has to be a blast to drive a 2000lb car in anger.

Your Exige??

Mike 01-04-2012 03:07 PM

word is that they have already reserved out a bunch of cabins to non Zdayz people that weekend, and they are only going to hold the rest of the rooms for Zdayz participants until the 31st of this month, so reserve now if you haven't!

m4a1mustang 01-04-2012 03:08 PM

I saw that on the ZDayZ facebook page... sign up folks!

I'll just have to wing it this year. Still hoping this job comes through, then I can worry about the time off. ;-)

Too me that was not the best spot/location to the the group pic that has been pick over the past years.

Even that the car parking went smoother that the previous year...

I disagree that it's overrated. It's unique and challenging. It's my favorite road down there when it's not super busy.

The others are more scenic while still being fun, but I can drive roads like those in MD any day. There's no road like the Dragon up here, though.

Dragon is a Sunday drive (ask Dan). The Skyway at speed can be challenging. :p

Physics change on the Skyway. Jon kicked up a rock from his left rear tire on a right hand turn that CURVED AROUND LIKE A BULLET FIRED FROM ANGELINA JOLIE IN WANTED into my open driver's side window and it JUST barely missed taking my left eye out. Hit me right on the bone around my eye socket. Hurt like hell. We were probably doing 65-70 around that corner.

Derek's been to the last 5 or so ZdayZ I think. Two years ago we started something a little evil by teepeeing his car. Last year it was saran wrapped. This year... who knows? :P

True story. :icon17: I thought I was gonna die when you got rocked

Dragon is a blast, but really too low speed to be super challenging (which is part of what it nice, pretty hard to get in over your head). Things are just different at speed.

Not sure how you say the dragon is too low speed to be challenging. The only time that's the case is when you get behind slow traffic. I had no less then three very challenging runs on it where traffic was no issue.

Red__Zed 01-05-2012 11:28 AM

At best you hit 80 in most cars. Vehicle dynamics change a lot once you get going faster.

Well, you and I were going pretty fast... left everyone behind almost every run. :p

 i realized this all too soon... Had an "oh sh*t" moment on the Skyway that almost gave me a heart attack.

Switching between the dragon and other roads can mess with you. The dragon feels like a video game relative to higher speed stuff

Yeah the dragon was no problem at all. Entering high speed decreasing radius sweepers on the Skyway is what messed with me. Went into a few sweepers way too fast and it wasn't until halfway through the corner I thought "should be going 10-20 mph slower". Lifted off the gas and boom... lift off oversteer sent the tail end wagging towards the edge :eekdance:

Yeah well if you only equate a challenge with speed you are correct. I consider a very technical road to be challenging as well when you push it.

Too each his own though.

After my first run on the Dragon, my freakin hands were shaking :roflpuke2:

More ridiculous than ridiculous day down at the deli!

Im just saying the dragon is very forgiving. You get on the brakes, and you can save yourself from all but the biggest mistakes. It feels a lot like autoX.

Except for the "offs" or incursions to other lanes (when traffic is there). There's been plenty of folks killed on that road and it's not to be taken lightly.

That is the most annoying part of that road...the biggest challenge is avoiding morons, rather than the road itself.

Or when you put half a tire off the road and kick up rocks for the people behind you :stirthepot:
