Anyone stay in a 2br azalea with fireplace last year? Trying to figure out where we're at. There aren't many of them on the map and the FVR fella said it was close to the rec hall but as usual won't give the cabin number. :P

Ha! Now that is funny, especially since they point out of the resort area...

I'd take the Viper any day, if I had to go American.

Heard a rumor that this is probably the last year that ZdayZ will be held at Fontana Village...

I hope is not true!

I hope not as well. I love that place. I would still spend a long weekend there every year either way. The prices are right as well.

Would this be as a result of the will of the event organizers or the will of Fontana Village?

eastwest2300 01-01-2012 03:01 PM

Probably the cops, and all the people that race down the dragon causing accidents.. Just a thought.. maybe

I doubt it... we really aren't much trouble for the two cops that police the area.

eastwest2300 01-01-2012 03:25 PM

Hmmm, well theres gotta be some reason for them to stop the event, but its all hearsay.. I guess eventually we'll find out. Lets hope for the best.

m4a1mustang 01-01-2012 03:26 PM

My guess is the resort thinks some of the crowd is a little to rowdy. :p It's one big party after all.

Would be hard to imagine that they would turn away $. We aren't that rowdy? :stirthepot:

The Mini group meets there first weekend of May as well. I heard they are animals compared to Z owners...:p

Maybe they think it gives the resort a bad name I dunno. I agree about the money... they make bank off all of us.

shadoquad 01-01-2012 04:29 PM

Even if zdayz is no longer there, I'll go annually for those roads. :)

eastwest2300 01-01-2012 05:15 PM

Yeah, no one like rowdy people.. its can be hard on a business.

Kirkster 01-01-2012 05:19 PM

Bryan Settle was at our Dec 2011 C & C Williamsburg and he didn't mentioned anything concerning that rumor, however I heard that a month later :dunno:

I will probably post at the ZdayZ FB page to see if any reaction from the organizers....

eastwest2300 01-02-2012 04:04 PM

Good stuff.

Mike 01-02-2012 05:48 PM

I think if anything, it has to do with Fontana's pricing and captive audience structure. It gets more and more expensive to run every year, and they won't allow outside catering for the dinners.

m4a1mustang 01-02-2012 06:01 PM

It is absolutely the perfect location, though. I hope it stays put.

The catering for the dinner is the only thing that I would say it needs improvement.

I'd have to agree with you, even though I've never been.. from the videos, it looks pretty nice.

sfearl1 01-03-2012 07:23 PM

i'm sure this has been covered somewhere in this thread, but i don't have the patience to look through all 40 pages...

this will be my first time driving the dragon. do you vets recommend a set of brake pads, brake lines, fluids, and an oil cooler before making the trip/driving the dragon? i imagine i will be doing a lil' more than "cruising" on the trip ;)

An oil cooler will be a plus. On one of the warmer days you would probably be able to reach limp mode without one.

Most street pads will work fine since you aren't really abusing the brakes that much (braking isn't as heavy as in a real track environment) unless you are riding someone's butt. I did it with Hawk HPS and stock lines/fluid on my Z and they did just fine.

sfearl1 01-03-2012 07:29 PM

sweet deal, thanks for the info.

m4a1mustang 01-03-2012 07:29 PM

No problem. Also, don't caravan with Lou Fusz. He might hurt you. :p

sfearl1 01-03-2012 07:32 PM

lol that's what i've been hearing...

tooohip 01-03-2012 07:48 PM

You should not go in limp mode...unless you keep your car in 2nd and 3rd all the time.

It depends on how hard you drive. Some guys really push it and some guys don't. It can be in the upper 80s there so it's definitely possible to get to limp mode...

pads aren't needed. the dragon is really pretty light on braking, unless you are absolutely killing it on the straights. I was usually letting off about 80% of the way down any straight, since you are usually going pretty fast at that point and the speed limit is only 35mph. there were a couple of runs where I only touched the brakes a handful of times over the entire 11 mile stretch of the dragon. The other roads demand a little more of your brakes, but they still really aren't in the range where you need to swap pads, and you'll probably notice a decrease in performance if you go more aggressive, since you won't be heating them up much.

tooohip 01-03-2012 10:26 PM

Well let's see... Yes an oil cooler is a definite plus. Those that say it is not needed are on a Sunday drive. You can get by without one but you will have more fun with one.

Oh and the guy who said he doesn't use much brakes... well, you definitely don't need an oil cooler then. ;-)
