We're good for either route OR cruise configuration -- I've got at least 6 ea. Motorola talk abouts (some older than other, but all work I think). We're planning to taking LOTS of pics & videos -- gotta get my "sticky pod" ordered, probably going with an external camera mount -- ANOTHER great advantage of a vert -- takin pictures!

Placed my order on Amazon for $62.95 for the Delkin Fat Gecko dual suction mount. They have single suction mount for about $30.00 as well.

ZDAYZ Caravan - Option 1 - Google Maps (529 Miles - Google estimate of 9 hours 7 minutes) - This one includes a trip down the dragon on the way to the lodge and I'm not so sure I"ll be ready for that at the end of a 10 hour drive with a fully loaded car. However, at that time of day for this event, it might be quite busy so there wouldn't be any chance to over-drive it while tired... ;-)

ZDAYZ Caravan - Option 2 - Google Maps (535 Miles - Google estimate of 9 hours 15 minutes) - Includes a possible photo opp at Bristol Motor Speedway and avoids the dragon at the end. Might be more scenic as we get closer, but will include more intersections/stop lights.

Just posting these for fun and to pass the time while I wait! ;-)
I like option 2 for the reason of being tired after 9 plus hours. If you add the stop for lunch and gas it'll be more like 10 plus hours. Depending on time of departure we need to consider traffic as well although I've never driven either route before. You all know me though, I'm an early riser so departing at the crack of dawn is not a problem with me. For example, leaving at 6AM would allow us to arrive somewhere between 4 and 5PM provided nobody has any tire changes or what have you that could add to the time.. Still daylight then and some time to get settled.

Don't tell me SO this or she'll demand we make the trip... I like it, she LOVES it. They were building a church a few miles from us that looked suspiciously like a CB in its early days of construction... to say she was excited would be an understatement

I definitely think 6AM is going to be the latest we'll want to head out by.
