so do we have any women drivers show up to these? In the M3 meetups, suprisingly quite a few women drove M3's.

Whitney (also from Gainesville) shows up from time to time.

No im not a perv, just wondering since there were a lot of M3 women owners at meetups.

m4a1mustang 11-10-2011 12:47 PM

I see a bunch of female 370 drivers but not many show up to our meets.

Red__Zed 11-10-2011 12:52 PM

Hm, wonder why? :shakes head:

If I may ask, why did you sell your Z Steve?

But really... :supergay:

:roflpuke2:

I had it for 18 months and wanted something else.

Cristobal09 11-10-2011 12:59 PM

I would just figure its a downgrade, you get faster straight line speed, but cornering compared to a Z is no contest.

:bowrofl:

They are actually dead even in the cornering department. Stock for stock the Mustang probably has a little bit of an advantage.

Dan actually sold his Z because he rode along with me on The Dragon earlier this year.

You need to take me for a spin in it, I really have to see what the big deal is with them. Ive been reading the forums and ive noticed at least 4 people who got rid of their Z's for Stang GT's.

If grip is available on Saturday I can arrange for that. :icon17:

You need to prove me wrong....Did you get a fully loaded one?

Not fully, but it's loaded.

I should qualify my comments. It's got the Brembo package which is what you want if you are interested in handling.

m4a1mustang 11-10-2011 01:07 PM

If you aren't fluent in Mustang, the Brembo package includes:

Pirelli PZero summer tires
Brembo brakes
Stiffer springs
Stiffer shocks
Lower control arms from the GT500
Aggressively tuned stability and traction control

It's basically an American e92 M3.

Cristobal09 11-10-2011 01:07 PM

And you must be doin alright if you already have all those mods added on. Im on vividracing right now looking at exhausts, and while cheaper than M3 exhausts, they're still really expensive. Im reading the forums now (I like to search before posting questions) trying to find out what mods do the most to these cars.

m4a1mustang 11-10-2011 01:08 PM

Yeah the Z definitely isn't cheap to mod, but it's not as bad as some other cars.

Definitely. That's why I've only bought used performance parts! Saved myself like $1k already just by doing that and they work exactly the same.

i assume through the F/S section? Ive had terrible luck in the past with forum sales. I sent 1500 bucks to a guy through paypal for his wheels and tires, never got them. Im definitely changing out the exhaust. But theres a thousand choices for catbacks, with my M3, there were maybe 3-4 choices.

Red__Zed 11-10-2011 01:16 PM

There's only like 4-5 good choices for the z as well

Yeah. You've got to watch that section like a hawk if you want to grab the best deals before someone else does. I got my exhaust for $700 and my intakes for $300, both roughly half the cost of new.

I know everything so we can just play 20 exhaust questions and I can tell you which one to buy. :icon17:

Cristobal09 11-10-2011 01:19 PM

Yeah CAI's are insane, 450 bones???? Do they even do anything except noise? On M3's they did absolutely nothing.

I dont want a ricey sounding exhaust. I had a Greddy on my 97 eclipse that sounded great, but that was like 11 years ago and I have a completely different car now.

The Stillen G3s are the best intakes for the Z. They add a bit of power but its really only at the very top end of the rev range. The stock airboxes are very efficient up to about 7,000 rpm or so.

I really like the sound of the Berk and Fast Intentions cat-back systems. Great tone without sounding ricey.

I can attest to the handling. Steve's 5.0 was absolutely flying around the Dragon (when I could see him since he was so far ahead :shakes head:)

I love FI but the drone is bad. Berk... great sound and no drone.

so overall, at least from what ive been reading and what people have posted in the general section, these cars are pretty maxed out from the factory. The suspension already handles great. The engine has plenty of power. The only thing I need to change is the exhaust, im going to listen to the Berk and Fast intentions catbacks, so thanks for that. Nothing would be worse than to buy an exhaust that sounds like a moped.

Red__Zed 11-10-2011 01:41 PM

Check out the invidia Gemini as well.

Same system as the berk, but more consistent fitment and less expensive.

:iagree: true story. Your Gemini system did have a nice tone as well, but small tips :ugh2:

Stock suspension is pretty good but there are still things you can do to upgrade it.

Power... again good but you can get some decent bolt on gains. Exhaust is about the best single n/a power mod out there since you gain all throughout the rev range. When you see how weak the factory exhaust is you'll be amazed... the factory Y pipe is literally two drinking straws coming together at a point into a slightly larger drinking straw.
